ROCKITRIDEIT Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 How do you explain this drop, other than heat and a slight wind conditions were fairly good yesterday. i think the wind was stronger than most people anticipated at the bottom end of the course. it was definitely stronger than last year. Headwind down the blue route meant B group was doing a fairly pedestrian high 30's kph for that section of the race, so was always playing catch-up per sub-3 split times.

Road bike hanging up and MTB out, Cape Epic here we come... B was very relaxed until the right turn up smits :-) Tiny K 1
riaanb Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I speak under correction, but the guy on the 29er stayed with the VB break group until Suikerbossie, where I passed him, and did not see him come pass me at any point, unless he took a ride on the beach. He was really strong, but then again, it was a S-Works Epic, and not just any 29er! Billy Stelling

But finishing within a few bike lengths of the A bunch, that's superb racing. PS Do not buy the kit. It is not PRO. Well, I see I finished 10th in the bunch (again) but we were told to slow down because of the ladies/VB crash - the last person was taken off the road 300m ahead of us as we approached. We were shouted at to slow down.

I knew my legs felt heavy from the start so it was a controlled death. What was your finish time? A DC team buddy (german guy) was riding very strong. He got a flat in Hout Bay

Somehow everyone wants the sub 3, very few are willing to work for it. Thanks to Sanchez and another A rider who pulled so strongly from top Chappies to the end. Pity about all the dead weight we had to carry along with us.Very glad to have dropped off the VB, VM and ladies before things went horribly wrong.Now it's Epic time... Fork-it and Tiny K 2

A DC team buddy (german guy) was riding very strong. He got a flat in Hout Bay My chain dropped twice on the first climb on boyes drive, so i killed myself to get back to the front of A. I wheezed out a 2.55 and nearly died. I only started training 4 weeks ago and have done a grand total of 560km in training... still. its another sub3, so i'll take it

Okes only started racing at Chappies, which is where I got caught napping and a 50m gap at the summit turned into 5 minutes by the finish line. Suikerbossie was quite a lonely experience. Still, I'll take 2.42. Now for the real race: Epic
