My chain dropped twice on the first climb on boyes drive, so i killed myself to get back to the front of A. I wheezed out a 2.55 and nearly died. I only started training 4 weeks ago and have done a grand total of 560km in training...

still. its another sub3, so i'll take it

Nice one man! I tried my best to ride in the bunch but there were so many guys passing and then closing the line I was riding that I spent most of my time riding to the front and filtering towards the back, and repeat.

There were 3 guys in particular - 2 x pnp riders (one A and another VB seeded) and another guy with some wording on his back, who rode like absolute tjops. Almost caused crashes on a few occasions.

Edit: and the amount of guys squeezing on the corners! donner!

I am going to try and join the sub3 club at the 94.7 this year, otherwise, two years time. I admit its a long shot as I could only manage 04:00:01 at my first argus this year but I guess only being in the saddle 6 times for 331km's the two months prior to the race, I couldn't have expected anything less.

3rd last person to crack sub 3 this year, with 5 seconds to spare.

10min improvement on last year.

C group was 3mins behind a sub3 time at edinborough, and 6 behind in simons town, then after smits we must've really picked it up to get in in time...

If that sub3 kit comes in white...

Nah, I saw a guy wearing it in C, and all I thought was poser.

when do you sub 3 hours guys start training? or do you train all year round ?

3 weeks before the time with the grand total of 560km training miles under my belt. which explains why i suffered so much

hmmmm. says he who didn't make it.

I don't race for sub 3s, you know me better than that. ^_^

STILL: Don't buy the kit. It is not PRO.

So, no riding at all since last year's Argus? Breaks out singing "How the hell can we believe you?"

I think Josh asked a valid question....

A sub-3 is probably a shedload easier if you ride throughout summer, and get a few of the fun rides in.

That said, it can probably be done on legs (and an arse) familiar with pedaling, good general fitness and the right training with two months to go...

Agree. Three weeks prior?? Seriously...

Unless you're neglecting to mention some cross-training, or that one of your parents was a previous le Tour winner...
