Epic finish. Spartacus shouldve taken it

Yes Simon had a nice ride!!wheelsucked for 7km,did one turn of about 15seconds in the last 3km and then took the sprint!!Hope he feels good about that win...when you go into a break like that everybody should do their part...espesialy during those last flat 3km!!

Tough task while being out numbered, marked and expected to pull the other two to the finish.

Sagan 4th. Good finish for the new guy. Saw there was a Omega rider down on last bend. Was it Boonen?

Yup, that was him. Gilbert came down in an earlier crash

Not really, Spartacus initiated the break on the descent, Nibali and Gerrans just hanged onto his wheel for dear life on that descent.

Everyone knows that its every man for himself in those last 3km's. It would have been dumb for either Gerrans or Nibali to help in those last couple of km's and Spartacus is wise enough and would not have given up!

If it was a break that started 100km's ago, different story.

Thats racing for ya

Don't know but thats just how i look at racing....Cancellara did go on the top part of the climb before the decend,Nibali could hardly hold on.I do agree with the decend but those last 3km it is just not on to suck wheel in a small break like that.Cancelarra showed them a couple of times he wants them to help but nothing!!That might be part of racing but it gives me no respect what so ever for Gerans.

Gerrans ? took me by surprise !

Don't sprinters always find a wheel to suck until the last 50m? He deserved the win, went with the crucial break, good for him and Green Edge.

Gerrans does not care about your respect (no disrespect meant), he has earned respect from his fellow riders already. That jersey he was wearing was earned, not handed to him. Oh was he not the guy that won the Tour Down Under earlier this year (a 2nd time)?

The one that crosses the finish line first, has his name written in the record books, not the one that contributed to the break or the one that closed the gap or the one that picked up the pace or the one that collected the water bottles but the one that crossed the line first.

They all sucked wheel for 291km, come to think of it all the current World Champ does is suck wheel until there is 350 meters of tarmac left before the white line.. but he does it in style and takes the win 99% of the time ;)

Now see what you have done, you made me defend a freeking Aussie! :cursing:

 not really defending him .... but you see what I mean!

Not when you sprint from a break!he took the chance and it paid off for him but had the bunch closed the gap he and Greenedge would have been left with nothing. When the bunch is that close everybody normaly would race as hard as they can and do their bit to make sure the break works. Then the last 100m its a free for all!!Personaly i would not want to win like that but thats just me.

Sprinting from a bunch when your team works for you is somethng completely different.

There is a big difference between wheelsucking in a bunch and wheelsucking in a break like that.Especialy if you are that close to the finish with the bunch 10seconds behind you...only reason at that stage to not help is if you don't have the legs and you will settle for 2nd or 3rd.
