post-22291-0-88897400-1332402751.jpgHey Hubbers

i have been doing this small route for training (19 - 20km) when i don't have much time available as it take me around an hour.

i am using GPSLogger II on my Blackberry to plot the route, so i have just dumped the data in excel, altitude vs speed, i will use this data to compare speed improvements on the climbs as i get stronger.

is this a worthwhile training route??

Looks like some pretty decent climbing to me, although I'm no expert. My trainer at the gym has just suggested the following for my weekly winter training:

- 1x gym core strength session with trainer

- 1x LSD (100km to 120km) on road - further if time allows

- 1x session laps of hill circuit (2 or 3 laps, or keep going into I can't do more as I get stronger)

- extra shorter ride or hill session if my schedule allows

I'd reckon 2 or 3 laps of my hill circuit is probably +/1 900m of climbing and maybe 18 to 20km by the time you've looped around. I'll post a session when I've done it.

His comment on the hill circuit was take it in highest gear I could manage each lap, and alternate grinding the climb with a few short bursts of high pace intervals each lap

So I doubt you're wasting you're time if it's something a trainer would advise.

Enjoy!

Am I reading this right, you hit 90 on the downhill?

Sorry I'm tech challenged . What is the scale at the bottom ?

hey guys,

yup bottom would be distance, but i did not add it, i just added 1+ all the way down the table, i will redo with distance, the total distance was just short of 20km

this is in the south of JHB, the first major climb is Hythe Ave in Glenvista, the 2 towards the end are Comaro Road, then a u-turn at the hiway offramp robots and back up Pieter Ackroyd, then back down Pieter Ackroyd and then down comaro, yup 90km/h down comaro :)

90km/h

Thats impressive, the quickest i have gone down a hill is 80km/h and I thought I was mad in my head and slowed right down

comaro is a bugger hey ;)

when do you guys ride?

Yip that I are

Tue and Thu we do that route, Wed and Fri we do easier Lido out and back. Leave home at about 4:45!

Weekends we MTB! I often go for a spin at Rietvlei in the afternoons at about 4:30 for an hour (Mon-Thu) but just for fun.

Pieter Ackroyd is a killer straight after Comaro :cursing:
