Cav' Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I have a 9 speed xt crank on my bike ( together with the rest of the 9 speed xt components ) Now I want to put a 2012 Xt crank on - Do they only come in 10 speed?Will i need to replace the FD,cassete,chain,shifters to 10 speed ? OR - should I just buy last years 9 speed xt again.... Cheers
brussel Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 yes the 2012 only comes in 10 speed.You can run a 10 speed crank on a 9 speed system without issues.

divernick Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 A 10-spd chain is just narrower than a 9-spd- the distance between the pins in the chain remain the same though - 1/2 inch
