I am on the market for a new bike. Was considering the s works sl4 or the bianchi oltre. Any advise on these. I am looking for the bike with better comfort (serious neck pain on my current). Which is the one to for for.

Neck pain is probably down to poor setup or the wrong size bike. The difference between an Oltre and an SL4 is not going to come down to sore neck vs. no sore neck, provided you have the right size and the right setup.

What do you want to use the bike for? Unless you are riding at a very high level, the best approach is probably to ride them both and see which one feels best. And to get a bike fit included in your purchase.

Enjoy your new wheels, they are both awesome machines. The black Oltre is the shiznit. SL4 more of a climbers bike, Oltre slightly more aero.

Sl4 if having the best engineering is important to you. It will have the most ride comfort and stiffness to weight ratio in engineering terms.

Bianchi if you must have Italian branding.

So at R35000 for the frame(that's what I have been offered ) is that a good deal for the oltre Nero. Does this bikes weight compare with the top bikes (dogma, time, look, spez etc)

from what I hear he Dogma isnt that light, the spez SL3 is superlight and stiff.

my understanding is that a lot of the italian or such brands are stiff but more forgiving and the handle really well

to be honest if I was going to spend 35K on the frame you should be doing a lot more home work

get hold of Tarmacs revenge on the hub he is/was a spez fan and has the Venge and has now added the Oltre to his quiver

Value for money at that price point SpezSL3/4 and take it from there

for a bike like that and your neck pain get a proper bikefit from an independent fitter

I had the same problem after 3 years of riding now its gone

I recently upgraded from a SL3 to a SL4. There is a significant difference in stiffness, handling and comfort. I can highly recommend the Spez, on condition that you build it with matching components and wheels. (No Force or Ultegra, or budget wheels should be attached to this awesome frame.)

Then again Tarmac's Revenge opted for a Oltre after being on Spez for long, and he is very satisfied.

Comes down to what you want, and what you like, cause both bikes are great.

For 35k rather get a I would rather get a Colnago C59, if it was my money and I absolutely had to have an Italian frame. Best engineered Italian frame imo, and they are renowned for a smooth ride. I rode a C40HP, newer ones have not lost the "magic carpet" ride according to reviews and reports.

PM Tarmac's Revenge, he owns a black Oltre, a Venge and has owned multiple SL3's and it's likely he can quote you a price on the Oltre that will beat whatever you have been offered. Might be able to quote on a spez as well.

Right now he's still riding stage 7 of the epic but he should be back in the land of the living by tomorrow morning.

I have sent Tarmac revenge a message. Await his response. Does anyone know if 930 grams is light for that price bracket.
