Braamfontein Trail (Short Extension) - Paulshof

I have been maintaining and developing some of the existing trails in the Paulshof East section.

 

The Maintenance has really been done with a weed-eater and a spade……and a lot of energy (elbow grease). Any volunteers or sponsors will be welcome!

 

Next time you ride up/down the Braamfontien spruit, consider crossing Witkoppen and enjoying another 3 km loop with some nice MTB features.

Excellent. The gardener is helping me today to extend another middle section of the trail with 2 ramps.

If you can negotiate with Leeukop prison that you can use their grounds (even for a fee) then you'll have an awesome course. Their grounds have some pristine single track areas along the river.

 

We used to go jogging in there, but the one day they stopped us. Our jogging loop was about 10 k's.

 

I suppose if you go speak to the prison management then something can be arranged...

SAFETY..... I reckon pretty GOOD - I live on the trail front..... no issues. I also ride early and often late (until it gets dark) - no issues. The trail is shared with people walking dogs and also horses from time to time. So, a fair amount of traffic and no 'dodgy' areas.

 

Leeukop Prison: Would be AWESOME to get a permit. They have had a few incidents of cyclists trafficking drugs into the prison via MTB..... therefore we are not allowed in anymore (not even on an informal basis).

Turbosnail. I have been enjoying this section for the last month or so. Its an awsome extenion to our ride from Emmarentia. Just a bit scary when going under the N1 highway going through the locals "lounge" to get to Witkoppen.
