"The brain child of Daniel Graham (@Cpt.Grimmy) the #moonlightmass is a casual night bicycle ride starting at the Green Point Circle on a full moon once a month. Started as a social experiment on twitter the ride has been gaining popularity and on our last ride we had about 140 riders raising awareness for cycling safety."

It's on tonight, 5 April, at Greenpoint circle, at 21:00 - 21:15. Lycra unnecessary.

Do all the participants to wear helmets and have front and back lights to drive the safety message home?

I'm busy negotiating with the Domestic Authorities to let me out of a dinner arrangement early, I hope you know how many times I'm going to be forced to go shopping if she OKs this very tempting ride!

what's the route?

To tell the truth, I haven't been on yet. I think it's through Greenpoint, up Long Street ... from there, I'm not sure. I'm guessing maybe back down Loop and through the Waterfront onto Beach Road.

"#moonlightmass route : we all meet under the Greenpoint turning circle @21:00 at around 21:20 we head towards the waterfront and cut through using a special route by @CTBikeCommuter then along the beach front promenade up along the fan mile to @LongStreetLife and eventually making our way to @andUnion for an ice cold beer and some snacks"

Flymango: the eternal optimist.

I'll take that as a compliment, thanks. But I do think if the aim is to raise awareness for cycling safety, then cyclists need to be wearing helmets and be visible (at night). To re-iterate, it's a great initiative.
