KZN Enduro Event - 28th April - BE THERE

Hey Guys

After a VERY successful inaugural Enduro Event held as part of the Karkloof Classic this last weekend I must tell you all of another event this weekend happening at Cascades Bike Park in PMB.

If you are from KZN or are an out of towner but coming down for the long weekend bring your bike and come give it a bash.

The format is awesome! Overall trail length is about 30km, but of this only about 10 to 15km is timed. You ride to the top of the hill at your own pace, and are then timed down a singletrack section that takes you back down the hill. Its not all downhill though with some flats and small ups. You leave the start at 30 sec intervals (or can chase your mate) ... its a very chilled vibe and everyone who raced the event this weekend agreed that its probably the most fun they have had at a race yet.

Remember the track caters for everyone (XC, Hardtail, and the DH nutters). So come and have some fun over the long weekend with us.

Oh and for those of you who are humming and haaring .... remember that the Karkloof event was won by an XC rider ... with the top 3 being XC - DH - XC ... so its not as hairy as everyone may think .... just great fun

flip, i'm super tempted! but as has been the case, i'll bet work is gonna ambush that plan. meh..

Please feedback on the event Nige: pics/vids/write up, the whole toot. Would be damn cool if we could emulate your successes and have something similar down here in the cape.

Sounds like an AM bike would be ideal for this course. Damn if I knew about this earlier I might actually have flown over to PMB for the weekend!

The format will work very nicely here but won't be a reality until we have revised the layout of the tracks. That said, nothing wrong with a bit of timed climbing links, right? ;)

Nigel, well done. Very successful event you are growing there. I'll make a plan to be at the next one!!

dont give me the credit ... im just the loudhailer on here to get everyone amped up ... Nick Floros has built the tracks so they will suit everyone.

Its put on by KZN MTB ...

Same here, I only heard about this event two weeks ago, if I knew about it a little earlier, I would have entered without hesitation.

maybe mod's split off this discussion starting with Jimmy Hardtail's suggestion, so we dont pollute the KNZ KZN even[t] with our awesomeness

lolz :P

Cap Majik is rad-i-cool but rather short. This may sound strange but Tygerberg MTB would be the guys to hit up to organise this. With their green corridors connecting Majik, Nitida, Hillcrest and Contermans it would be a great system for a multi-stage event: transfer stages (climbs) that aren't timed, with timed descents counting for points.

Think about it:

Transfer 1: Up Majik

Timed 1: Down Majik

Transfer 2: Up Majik again, across to Nitida

Timed 2: A couple of runs on the slalom course

Transfer 3: Nitida up Hillcrest - to the masts

Timed 3: From the masts, blue, green and black routes to the Bike Shed

Transfer 4: Up the Bike Shed

Timed 4: Bushvine climb, backwards

Some of those are shorties, so you could combine the climbs with the timed stages, such as a lap from the Bike Shed, up the Jeep track, then the wrong way across and down bushvines (5km lap, which is what they used for the ride-before-you-buy a couple years back)

Kliprug, which is pretty technical and rocky, could be included as well!

Yeah, maybe this should be split :P
