question, i'm still pretty new to this whole cycling thing on don't know all the inns and outs yet.

when i cycle i don't have cleats yet, so i cycle with normal pedals and takkies, i find after about 20 minutes my toes go dead and get pins and needles, it's not the takkies cause i wear them all the time and they never give me problems, could it be that my seat is adjusted the incorrect heigh,

cause i find my thumbs also go numb

any suggestions

thanks

I talk under correction, but when I had that problem, I was told my seat "settings was not correct.  I think a nerve gets pinched?  But I stand under correction, and would love to hear the responce.

Thing is cycling shoes are for cycling.  I had the same problem then got me a pair of Diadora's.  Never looked back, but one thing you can try is to get other socks and loosen your strings.  Hope that helps and good luck

20min??  NO!!!!  It should NEVER happen.

Take some $$$ and get a decent bike setup.  Best investment you will ever make!!

Pins and needles will soon be a thing of the past......

But if the numb feeling goes away, you will start feeling the sore legs.....maybe you want to re-think your strategy??

If your hands are going numb there is to much pressure on them ie. you leaning to far over your handlebars, which means your seat is either to high or your handlebars are to low.

numb toes also from pressure on the balls of your feet, thats why cycle shoes have solid soles. either convert to cycle shoes or get takkies with the hardest soles you can find.

You can also try wiggling your toes every 10 min while cycling. It relieves the pressure points pushing on the nerves.

Sounds dumb, but make sure your toe nails are nicely kept. If they are too long they will press against the front of your shoes and cause discomfort. (And also chow through your socks in a hurry Smile )

how high schould my saddle and handle bars be, how do you measure it?

Pins and needles and measure?  Sounds like needlework, so use a measuring tape?
