Got you. I usually just tape the box and if you're gonna be "handling" the bike yourself you don't even have to close it "all the time" but if it doesn't fit onto your bakie...... I don't like the idea of my bike in a bag being handled by airport baggage handling staff so I almost always go with the box. They were insanely expensive compared to any of the LBS in my area. Shops like SW is proof that people in South Africa don't know how to shop for the best price. The price of the First Accent gear is more expensive or almost the same at Sportsman then the LBS right next door at the Pavillion. How can that be? Know nothing and as long as it has nine irons and a few woods you assume this must be a mamba set of clubs. Or those Vaalies who come to Durbs on holiday and buy themselves those luminous baggies because they are somehow fooled into thinking that is how surfers dress. Unfortunately there are huge markets that prey on these folk. They manufacture "replicas" of the real deals and sell them to the masses. Whats wrong with luminous baggies? We are trying our best to be the best. Our prices are not bad considering, and our service is improving. Well at least I know this at our fourways store. our new store will have Merida and Trek and our normal names such as Mongoose and Schwinn, we have a whole range of good bikes now. Example, the Merida big nine Carbon, its R30k, but full carbon, XT components accross the board. its a really good bike at a decent price. our specialist mechanic has just come back from training at the Merida and omnico factory, he can strip a bike down completely, including bearings and all the nitty grittys. This will be another added value to our team. 5 of our cycling departments team members ride with me every thursday, so that they can get a feel for what we go through out in the bush miles away from anything. they know the importance of breaks and gears being perfect, tyre pressure, comfort. Its something small but hopefully it gives you the customers a better experience in store when the staff know what you talking about. Hope to see you guys in my store soon. Can't remember ever replacing or servicing these items on my bikes. Maybe the fact that they are missing on my bikes is the cause of me being so slow on the trials. I don't think any of your staff are under any illusion on the importance of breaks, we've all experienced them having their break when we've needed service. Do they only learn this riding with you or are you trying to teach them not to have them as often in store? It's going to be interesting to see how customer's needs are met by the retail experience, A whole range of good bikes? Are you a masochist? Inviting ridicule from your fellow hubbers? These bikes are what are termed Walmart specials. No one here is going to be fooled by your buyers attempt to justify a profit opportunity based on selling ordinary and passing it off as great. Welcome to the Hub, you going to get a lot of flack from some Hubber's best get used to having a thick skin but you will be in the same category as the likes of Cyclelab and Cajee's all which have had their share, some justifiable some not.
