My package from overseas has been lying with customs since 23 April.

Almost daily e mails and phone calls are to no avail. This morning , after trying for an hour, I am eventually told that the customs will only start processing the paper work today, Oh and there is no guarantee that they will process my paper work this week,as there is a huge back log. They have been working with a skeleton staff as the casuals are all on strike. So those of you who have got your parts over the last few weeks have been the luck ones.

I wonder what weird import tariffs they going to apply?

10 days to arrive in South Africa,25 days and counting to clear customs?

Bummer, I share your frustration. Ordered a new fork which was dispatched by seller in US on 30 Apr and according to local Post Office has been lying with customs since its arrival on the 7 May.

Shock and amazement , I have just got an e mail informing me that my goods have been cleared at customs and are on the way. Duty also seems correct.

Is this routine for any part, big or small, ordered from the international online sites ?

What sort of duties are we taling about here?

Good luck, hope it "clears" soon.

No it is not the norm. Customs are on strike , I think only at OR Tambo, thus the huge delay in posted goods. There is a thread which covers all the duties applied. Most bike spares are 0% plus vat.

I recently brought in a light 1000 lumens , it cost me, this is from memory, R 30 admin and R 63 vat and R 450 for light .Total cost R 543. If you get a light locally for R 1000 then you have a good deal.

I received a CRC order on monday. One order which they split into 2 shipments (also a day apart), but they arrived at the same time.

Total delivery time... 10days.

If Superstar is using Royail Fail with no tracking... then it can be anything up to 6 weeks... or even no delivery at all! My 1st Easton Havoc stem was sent Royal mail. I waited 5 weeks and no sign... so I demanded a resend via parcelforce. That arrived within a week. I never did bother to check if the original arrived... so who knows... some postan might be rocking an awesome stem on his humber?!

I have been importing lights for some time and was looking around for a cheap copy of the MJ808E that is worth reselling. I have found a few promising candidate in the R250-R450 range. So far none of them i would like to resell. If you are happy with a light of that quality then good. I prefer a light that has a water proof rubberized battery, a ZA 2 point charger, thermal protection and 4 level battery indication. I will not resell a light with a battery pack that is not completely water proof. never ever again. That is one rule that i have maid my self after what happened with the first MJ808s that had a heat-shrink battery. Really think about it. Buying a light for winter that is a open batter? that is crazy

I am also "hande in die hare" over this delay. I am waiting for some amazing LED's to arrive and they where shipped via air mail on the 20th April. I have been calling everyday. The friendly post office workers know my voice by now I don't even have to say my name.

I have one of your "bigger" batteries which works like a bomb.
