  9. Thx Any comment on Novatec hubs ?
  10. Thx for replies. Have done but edges on where the pawls have to engage are burred now. Pawls themselves are fine, shitty little spring though, to think you entire ride depends on something so small... Does that mean replacing the hub ? I thought so !!
  11. Anybody have issues with the engagement of the free body ?? I often have this "clunck" noise as I apply power. OEM wheels on Scott Scale Pro 29 er, spec sheet says DT Swiss XR29 but think the are 240's as XR29' not on DT Swiss website. Probably done a 1000 km on it, second free body (replaced on warranty), now it would appear that the hub itself has bocome damaged, edges burred as a result of engagment problem I think.. It only has 2 pawls. Next question: what do I replace it with that wont break the bank, is easy to service and maintain with spares readily available ??? Any comments ???
  12. C50 Dura ace groupset and Mavic Ksyruim wheels.
  13. Interesting !!! I took velcro strap, similar to what you use to secure a pump for example, and attached the spare quater turn mount to it. You can use rubber band supplied or any other method Can then fit it around your arm or to spinning bike at gym, which was the main reason I wanted it...
  14. Had same issue. Out in sticks on holiday so no help or lbs to go to. Had no special tool. Took out cranck, used sharp tool to lift out bearing seals, washed an rinsed with para fine to get out all the grit as best I could, syringe works well, blow out excess with compressed air, pushed in waterproof grease as best I could and but it back an was sorted. Not impressed as bike only 3 months old !! Don't use high pressure washers and cannot understand how all grit got in. Generally avoid cycling through crank deep water as well. Some research on web shows that you can remove with some basic tools. Will attempt when back at home. How long should a BB last ?
  15. Is this routine for any part, big or small, ordered from the international online sites ? What sort of duties are we taling about here? Good luck, hope it "clears" soon.
  16. Thanks for great reply and explantion. Much appreciated. Eric
  17. Thanks, what rear de raileur are you running ? I have oldish Dura Ace 7700 and an concerned whether it will take 28 ? Have a shot mtb cluster with 28 ring and I was thinking I will take appart and slip the 28 ring on and check if de raileur has sufficient "reach" or what ever you would call it. Do you think it will work ? Cheers Eric
  18. Thanks for replies, much appreciated.
  19. Anatomic factory outlet in Northcliff, good choice depending on what you want to spend.
  20. Hi Hubbers Need some advise, run a 9 speed Dura Ace system and as I am getting older and spending more time on mtb maybe, am looking for more cadence on the climbs. Currently 53/39 std cranck up front and 11-25 at the back. Rear derialeur S Dura Ace 7700 (9 spd) Question: Do I go for 12-27 road bike cluster or will 11-28 mtb cluster work and give me a bit extra on the climb without sacrificing the 11 at the bottom ? Sure next option is to compact up front but thats costly. Your comments please.
  21. From recent newsletter it would appear that they are going to make 2012 Pioneer easier..... Time in saddle to be no more that 6 hours per day for "average rider" is what it says. Some oaks complained that it's to hard !! The problem is the definition of "average" I thought I was about average until I spent 9 hrs plus on 135 km's from Mosselbay to George during last years Pioneer. That was much tougher than any stage I have done in the 2 Epic's I have completed. The question is whom is it pitched at ? Some "easier rides" are over subscribed but numbers in Pioneer have been on the decline. Suspect that's why is will be "easier" in 2012. Think they need tp pitch it at the "weekend warriors" that have 8 to 5 jobs, train at 04:30 before work and have to pay their own entry fees. Both are awesome events !!!
  22. All worked out fine in the end and I now have a brand spanking new frame. By the way it was an Giant Anthem frame and they met me halfway as far as new parts were concerned at the end of the day. So all considered a happy ending.
