Sworks.

More support/parts should something break. Those Lefties can be a pain... and Spez brings a truck

if you can get hold of an spez epic! I went with Scalpel 2 because there is no stock available on epic expert for whole of 2012. I've got the scalpel within a week, and support on dale's also good at the epic.

SPEZ has to bring a truck to fix all the broken Spezzes!

Rode a Scalpel for 2 years without any problems........riding a Flash 2 29er now......what a beast-Just had the frame replaced because of a broken water bottle cage lug-brilliant service!

They even gave me an upgrade to a Flash 1 frame because they had no Flash 2's

 Lefty Rocks

Just remind me again which brand won the Epic for the last 2 years. (I own a Bulls and will never change but between the 2 mentioned it is simple!)

It is not all about the bike that wins races.

You should write a book and call it......... "IT"S NOT ABOUT THE BIKE"

Remember Suzzie won the world MTB cup on Scalpel 2000 back when he was riding for 'dale...?

The Lefty is a great piece of engineering. Also 29'er Scalpel has evolved rear suspension, on a pivot now.

But It's down to personal choice. Either bike is not going to make any diffs. in your results.

When a bike is set-up for you and it fits..........then it's all about the bike!

When a bike isn't set-up..................................then it's not all about the bike!

which one would be better for the Cape Epic?

Personal choice, both are good, both have won the Epic.

The lefty fork is a pain. Not robust enough, expensive to replace/repair.Chucked mine and fitted WC rock shock.Scalpel looks a lot prettier

go Cannondale! I've got two flashes, one 26er and one 29er.

26er was bought secondhand and everything needs to be paid for.

29er was bought new, have got 2 new spiders, new axle, now a lefty service, all free.

Cannondale support is the best by far.
