I've been trying to find out about the blackspade 29er here on the hub for a while. Where can I read some user reviews or chat to an owner about it or even ride it?

Based on the alu version, I agree with the post re the carbon Anthem 29er! I'm tempted to say I'd go with XT groupset for reliability (even though the XTR is seriously pretty!)... I ride SRAM myself, but Shimano just feels more solid to me. As far as wheels go, get good ones! Let's be honest here, once you get to R6k+ wheels, the only real difference is the stickers and the marketing (hence the pro's not all riding on the same wheels!).

Yellow Saddle Cycling raised a concern this week in their newsletter about going the Spez route:

".. Sadly Specialized went the other way - the closed and proprietary route. The new Specialized regime wants you to buy and service your Specialized bikes at one of a small handful of approved outlets. ..In my view, this is a step backwards and will cost Specialized owners a lot more. ..... We can still service some of those shocks using generic parts but items like derailer hangers, suspension bushings and other proprietary parts will see you visiting the concept stores."

On the account of one of those "friend of a friend" type stories, the guy brings in Specialized bikes so I'd go with the S-Works Epic Carbon 29 XTR if I had the moola.

What wheels and components did you fit? How much does yours weigh?

Mine has a Reba fork, XT derailers and brakes and SLX cranks. WRC low-rise carbon handlebar and KCNC Scandium seatpost. American classic wheels with Racing Ralph TLR tires. XT pedals. Comes to about 11.8kg in size L. I would love to know what diffs the XTR makes (not that I can afford it though  )

There may be a bit of bob, but I cannot say that I ever noticed it or that it ever bothered me. I do not want a complete lock-out.
