Unless you're up for camping, accommodation seems to be sold out! Managed to get something at Clanwilliam about 60km away. Just don't feel like packing up tents at 05h00 on Sunday morning to make the 07h00 start.

But we're doing it!! Will be my longest distance in one day on a mountain bike. Nervously excited!!

i did 100 Miler on a hardtail & i survived....just about, my ass was not happy with me though. I did 100km on the mtb on the road but that was still not enough to prepare me, with enough long rides off road on the mtb in the +75km region I guess you would be fine with a hardtail. Ideally i would say soft tail if long rides have been limited. Then again it all depends on the terrain. is the district & farm roads smooth or rutted?

The trail run is 10km's.

Re the hardtail and slick tyres:  if it is possible to do it on a proper cyclo cross bike......you add it up.

To participate in cyclo cross category you need a proper cyclo cross bike.

You can pretty much ride with what you like as long as you're not in contention for the prize money, then certain rules apply.

For instance no tt handlebars.

Hope this makes sense

How long is the trail run?, need to do that the day before to get a real workout for the weekend.

Respect. I'm glad you think 115km and 1400m isn't enough.

We will be riding the 115km route this weekend. Will give feedback on Monday regarding the road surface.

that will be awesome, enjoy. Please take special note of technical rocky sections if you come across any as I'm thinking of running cyclocross tires on my HT 29'er.

ok how much differences does a proper cyclcross bike have vs road/mtb bike, this is all new to me so forgive me if i sound a bit doff.
