i've survived a knock by a truck and have since recovered. i broke my shoulder blade and was booked off for 6 weeks. i managed to get me a 2nd hand indoor trainer (Tacx oldish version) to keep fit while i fully recover to hit the road again. my problem is that the handle bar mount for the tension adjuster is for a much smaller diameter handle bar. i have a 31mm diameter bar and have been using the adjuster loosely. my arm does not have its full use yet and its quite difficult for me to adjust the tension (i have to stop pedalling to adjust). it would of been much easier had it been mounted.

any of you have a similar problem or any idea where or how to upgrade the mounting?

Have the exact same problem and same indoor trainer. the clamp just doesn't fit my bike. I currently set it on a fairly high resistance and use my gears to shift / increase resistance. not sure if that is the way to go, but haven't found another solution.

Try mounting it closer to the stem, where the bar is thicker.

Or mount it somewhere closer to the outerside end of the bar, over the bar tape.

Or wrap an old inner tube around the bar a couple of times, then mount it.

If you injured your left shoulder, you are obviously going to mount it in the side which is still fully functional, the right ;)

Try Crown Cycles, they have a RavX Computer Mount that will clamp onto your handlebars easy....

I see Buzzman suggested RavX from Crown.

Any cycle store should be able to help.

I think I also saw something at Sportsmans Wharehouse.

I have the same problem with a much simpler solution - I just hang the adjustment lever and cable over my right brake hood. Pick it up and adjust when needed and put it down again.

*hijack warning*

so what type of trainign do you actually do on the trainer? Just sit there for and hour and pedal or do you have an actual structurd training plan?

I do interval training  - makes the training more interesting than just pedaling for an hour
