Hi all

I own scott scale 50 hard tail. I enjoy the bike. Its got shimano non series brakes wich I don't enjoy. The dt swiss 4450 wheels also feels heavy. Will it make a difference to upgrade to slx brakes and a new wheel set like xt,filcrum or easton?? I ride marathons,xc and the odd stage race...

If I'm correct, an I think I am, the Scale can fit a 650b without issues, if you have a Fox! So you will have the best of both worlds in a few months. Hold out if you can! Not something bike shops are gonna tell you, as everyone is so 9er befok.

Had those XT rims on my libirated Trance x1. Have them again on my replacement and still loving them. Very reliable and easier to maintain than a lot of the others out there.

Wheels imo is the biggest diffs you can make to a bike. I mean replace the seat post and save 100 grams for R1k. you may as well not eat today and loose 300grams. it's free. Wheels are however rotational mass. few grams = big diffs in manuvarability and acceleration.

You can also fit tractor tires to a toyota tazz if you know how, because it can be done doesnt mean it should. All your going to end up with is a bike with the geometry designed for 26" wheels that will ride high and feel off balance with an expensive 27.5" wheel.

hell it took bike designers 8 years to start perfecting 29" geometry, anyone thats buying a 27.5" bike in the near future has money to waste, i wouldnt bother buying a 27.5 specific designed bike till its at least in its 3rd or 4th revision.

Im also going for the 27.5 wheels. Set of wheels make a big difference, get a other set, the dt Swiss is good reliable wheels as i also have with my Scott, but since getting STANS its like so much easier etc. Brakes need to be 100%. Juicy is what i found to work the best for us.

Ok..jis laaik. Visiting england and scotland soon. maybe order from CRC....

Rather order CRC from SA. Shipping is free on orders over R3000. Imagine what airlines will charge you to bring a wheelset in as extra bag...

Incorrect im the one thats not fooled by fad's,

26" have their place, 29" have their place,

27.5 are for 26" riders that read comments made 8 years ago about 29'er performance.

If it was that **** hot (seeing as the concept is being pushed by some manufacturers namely FOX DTSWISS and one or two others) you would have more 27.5 bikes in the 2013 selection (you will notice almost none of the manufacturers have 27.5 models out for 2013. Granted once its a standard, and there has been a couple of designs out and about and some real world consumer testing and proof it might turn into a viable solution, but slapping 27.5 on your 26" frame (unless you have a AM type frame that can handle the difference in angles) is not the most intellegent move. Especially on something like a scott where its fine tuned for 26" @ 100m.

But your more than welcome to go waste your money its a semi free country after all.
