How much extra would you prepared to travel.....

How much extra would you prepared to travel to have your bike serviced?

Reason I’m asking is should a manufacturer open their own service centre, where factory technicians that look after the factory riders look after the servicing and repairs would you be prepared to travel an extra 50-60km for this service and secondly pay more for this type of service

All feedback positive or negative would be appreciated

In somerset west, we now have at least 4 players within 2 or so km's of each other. ASking me to drive 50 - 60 km for a service is a bit much.

I've traveled from JHB to PTA for a service, just a pity the service was disappointing. Yet another bike shop with techies that are not bothered to do a proper job

Yeah it all depends, I have found two smaller shops one specifically where I take my bike for anything technically related, I find the bigger flashy shops are useless when it comes to servicing and theres always an issue of some sort. And a major hassle to sort it out afterwards.

 

These guys run their shops like a hobby offer me superb service and gets the job done right. Would i pay more and drive 60km to have it done right, i really dont think so. But im sure there are enough people out there that are fed up and would like a gaurunteed service. With no questions asked on come backs.

I push my bikes to the shed and then it's "SPANNER TIME"

 

If need be I'd travel anything up to 50km to get the right part or the right service done.

I do it mostly myself and I don't like dropping and collecting, especially if it involves sitting in traffic. For a major service, once or at most twice a year, perhaps before a major race or event, I'll go out of my way for superior service but only if I have a personal rapport with the mechanic.
