Funny how every twat wearing one of those shirts and with that sticker on his car thinks he can get out and box.

Why dont you do us all a favour, get your 29er and let us all come see how fast you can descend down an abandoned mine shaft of our choice on it.

Had to double check myself. I seemed to think the Stumpies were coming out in both. May be wrong though.

it really doesnt make sense to me why 26inch bikes are still in production especially if you look at the amount of 29ers and how popular they are in south africa at the moment please share your thoughts.

Who says 29" is clearly the way forward?

To the OP - My Avatar has reference to another thread here on thehub. Those in the know understands the significance. Now since you are the self-proclaimed Oracle of mountain biking, lets hear your thoughts on the following: The brakes, cranks, gear ratios, etc. on your 29er were all built on a 26" platform. Think about that next time you hit a corner at full tilt or take a drop off, or when you push your tractor up the hill when a 26" bikes spins past in granny gear. Even the fork and rims you use are in all likelihood a stretched version of something tested and developed on a 26" platform. Your bike would have some compromises on its geometary to make it ridable. Admittedly its got better with bikes now sporting bent down tubes, handle bar lengths that's as wide as the gap between your ears, etc. but its not perfect yet, no matter what your bike manufacturer say. A 29er has its place, but so does its 26" cuzzin and for many on here the pro's does not yet outweigh the cons for owning a 29er. The logical point where people in the market starts to switch is when the 29'er platform becomes the development standard, and there is no surprise that manufacturers are now throwing in a new wheelsize to confuse matters even more. Now we start all over again on 650B with limited rim manufacturers, tyres that is a stretched version of 26" tech, etc. The mere emergence of an in-betweener wheelsize in itself is an admission that 29er tech is no where near perfect. Remember that 85% of the guys and girls ride for the pure enjoyment thereof. To gain a claimed 5% (on the flats only mind you) is not that important to us 85%. The reason 29'ers is big in SA is because we are all suckers for multi stage events. I will probably buy a good 29er next year when I get back from Canada, but it does not mean that my 26" bike is dead. It will only die if component manufacturers follow suite on frame manufacturers and rebuild their components on 29er tech and not simply stretching 26" tech.

At top and above is the complete 2013 Stumpjumper FSR collection. The Stumpjumper FSR is now the only full suspension line that includes both 26″ and 29er. No, Specialized has no announced plans to do a 650B bike at this time, something reiterated by several folks across both the mens and womens bike lines.
