So the other day I ran out of talent and broke my left clavicle, pretty much all the way through, requiring a plate and pins. Now I was wondering how long will it be before I can start riding again and if there is anything that I can do or take to speed up the healing process.

Depending on how severe it actually was, is this not a question for your doctor? Mate of mine was out for about 2 months, can be less though. Anywho good luck with the healing, hope you're back on the bike asap.

You had a plate and SCREWS inserted. If it was locking screws you can be spinning at 2 weeks and riding (but not falling) at 6. If regular (non-locking) screws were used it could be 10-12. No quick fixes, despite all the BS about hyperbaric O2, suppliments etc. Post your XR for more accurate info.

Have you heard of ultrasonic osteogenesis stimulation or Sonic Accelerated Fracture Healing System (SAFHS) ? Not sure if it is applicable, but it reportedly helps bone growth and repair of fractures. I am not in the medical field, maybe you can check with your specialist. I picked up on this treatment on a US MTBR forum topic where someone claimed it worked for him.

I broke mine on voting day last year and had the plate and pins inserted, I felt I was good to go in about 3 weeks after the op but if I had my way and got back on the bike before healing properly, my other half may have inflicted worse wounds on me.

6 weeks after the op I was riding the spruit and havent had issues, plate and pins happy where they are.

I broke mine in January, 6 separate bits of bone. Operated on Jan 6 where plated and pinned. I was spinning on Jan 13 with 1st road ride on Jan 21. Started the fun rides from Jan 29 and rode Argus.

1st bunny hop of a potential hole was a bit sore but otherwise no issues at all. Luckily I was quite fit which definitely helped recovery.

Been there, done that. Two weeks of no riding. Then do the indoor trainer for 6 more weeks. Even if you feel OK to go ride the mountains, you don't want to crash and break it again before it has healed properly, or it will be an unholy mess to sort out. Then start outdoor riding, preferably on the road, where you are less likely to fall than on the mtb. Check with your ortohpod, his advice should carry the greatest weight.

Did mine about a year ago by clipping a tree at Giba. Also plate and screws. I took it easy for 2 or 3 weeks then got my bike on the stationary trainer to try and keep some fitness. Got back on the trails 6 weeks after the OP. I might have been a bit carefull but wanted it to heal properly.
