Bryton 50 vs Garmin 800

I'm looking to buy the missus a nice prezzie for christmas and I heard through the grapevine that she wants one of these. On i-Warehouse the Bryton goes for R4600 and the Garmin for R4330. Both these include the chest strap for the heart monitor.

I am leaning towards the Garmin because I know it better and it's cheaper.

Any reason why I should buy the Bryton?

Garmin....you won't look back, if you want to save more money...look at the Edge 500.

We know, but most of us struggle to swim 3 kilometers, nevermind 12000

I have a Bryton 35 that I find difficult to use with regard to the software app.Not very user friendly.No experience with garmin

My two cents worth.

I have the Bryton 50. Great for cycling, user friendly while on the bike, beauts and realistic training programs etc. Only aspect I'm not too impressed with is the mapping page - looks like something out of a Jules Verne novel and is not as userfriendly as even old generation Garmins I've used. Do not think it's dual purpose i.e. the missus can nav to the shops etc....it is not designed for vehicle use, except in emergencies.

The PC interface is very comprehensive but not as userfriendly as one would expect.

Spares and exstra cadence and mounting units are readily available. If you shop around you can find a full package (cadence and heart rate monitor included) for R3000. Which is very well priced for SA.

Garmin 800! Best cycling computer I have ever owned. Very easy to use and provides bucket loads of information.
