The bike is now in pieces and all the black parts will be on there way to be powder coated on Monday.

 

Watch this space for the end result, probably next weekend.

 

Nice looking ride that. Regarding the powder coating, I had a bad experience powder coating over anodised aluminium. It came out of the oven and there were loads of tiny bubbles. At first we couldn't figure out what was wrong. Had the parts sandblasted and tried again with good results. The only thing that I could think that caused the problems was the anodising.

I'm trying to find wheels like that in JHB, and it seems just short of impossible!

@Grebel, most of the parts being powder coated are steel, so shouldn't have too many problems with that.

 

@Twombles, In so far as the rims are concerned, I'm almost positive Shimano made a rim like that but many years ago, probably around the 80's.

I found some Alex r600 rims from crc, will see if I can get them locally.
