Hi

For the life of me I cannot get this tyre to fit my rim. It looks as if the tyre is an inch to small but its not.

Any tips besides lubricating the rim?

Thanks in advance

lubricate the rim!!

Plus you just gotta force that bead over the lip , they can be damn hard to get over sometimes.

Having nice long tyre levers is also a huge help , if you using those 3-inch long repair kit levers I feel sorry for you cause its gona probably end in tears!!

Justbe gentle...... but the tighter the fit on the rim, the better tyre will seat

Are you using rim strips?

Sometimes they are reasonably thick and make it more difficult, in which case rather using rim tape will make it fit easier.

Hmmm let me see but honestly it does not look like the problem.

I broke my big levers so now im on those bright green crowbar units lol...

In my many years of cycling I have never battled like this so its strange...

Since moving to a 29er, I battled like crazy with my last conversion of Crossmarks onto a Giant PXC2 wheelset. Seems the channel inside is not as deep and doesn't allow enough play to get the bead over the lip easily, hence my question about the strip which makes it even worse.

Eventually I had to resort to the old cheap metal levers to get them on.

Put some insulation tape around the metal ends so as not to scratch the rims and got them on through brute force.

So it turns out it was the no flats rim strips causing the problem but I only just managed to squeeze the tyres on with them removed. I then tried the Cafe Latte rim strip and that failed big time... now what strip to try....

@Rouxtjie had the solution. He phoned me, mentioned free beer and a tire that won't go on the rim and I was at his house in 5min. We also used those green crow bars, work like a bomb.

Stans tape should work well although there are many other backyard methods like cutting duct tape and even in emergency situations insulation tape.

Yip yip...I stood on the part that has seated and you went mm by mm with the green crowbar. Crest doesn't like Geax TNT's, and that was with just the yellowtape conversion, no strips.
