Did anyone compete at the notties challenge yesterday , was a little dissapointed the 25km race turned out to be only 18km

Was pacing myself saving some energy for the last 7km and it ended very dissapointing ,

I know the race organisers put a lot into the races and I thank everyone for doing so but 7km short isn't good . and the t-shirts never arrived waited until 12 and nothing .

Overall I'm a little dissapointed and wanted to vent some frustration

Apparenlty the 65km (or whatever it was) turned out to be 40km.So pleased i decided not to ride.My wife was keen to do the 25km but sorry i refuse to pay R125 for 25km or actually only 18km!!Any idea who timed the event - cant find the results anywhere

It actually amazes me how many races I do where the distances are incorrect. Maybe a handful of races throughout the year are correct to within a few hundred meters.

It doesn't bother me much but I do think that these days with GPS's and pretty accurate bike computers that getting the distance right should be fairly simple? I mean even if it has changed for some reason, riding it a day or 2 before and announcing the 'actual' distance would make sense .... or is it a case of not upsetting people before the race and then just dealing with the 'fallout' after?

It's irritating when one saves something for the last 5/10km and the race is shorter. You're right, there's no excuse for inaccurate distances.

Maybe the guys doing the distance measuring are spending most of the time on their back wheel doing a wheelie over the route :whistling:

Results were done by the organisers themselves but since there was only one lady on a laptop collecting the results and to be honest I don't know if she was collecting runners, riders or attempting to do both. She also disappeared not long we finished, just over 2 hrs. Don't hold our breath for the results.

the 60k was only abt 40k and the last 5k of that was on tar. It also required a dismount to climb the steps of the railway bridge in the last km.
