milky4130 Posted September 26, 2012 Share Did anyone else get a heart rate spike from just before Simola & I'm not referring to the climb causing the hr spike. I recorded a HR of 220+ bpm from before the climb while still on that descend the one before simola, all the way to the end. If it was a spike it usually lasts a few seconds but this lasted almost 20mins. Did anyone perhaps notice power cables in this area, I didn't as this would explain it. Don't know what it was for though. Probably electricity

HDW Posted September 26, 2012 Share Aaah I knew it, thanks for restoring my sanity HDWNo problem! What would've been strange is if you managed to go for 20 minutes at 220+ bpm HR, and not remember it

PeterF Posted September 26, 2012 Share Did my first K2C on Sunday. Just over 6 hours! Respect to all the guys and gals with the sub 4 time! The final nail in my coffin was the Simola (hope spelling is OK?) hill at the end! But....I'll be back next year! Awesome ride and the atmosphere was great. One thing I took home was, that here in the Free State we have no hills.... and the local "koppie" is not a HILL! Next year my preperation MUST include hills..... and one last thing.... the silly idea of converting my current 3x10 to 2x10 flew out of the window on my way back.... I BONDED with my granny! I also did the K2C for the 1st time and loved it, although my backside still hurts. Was also worried that I would have enough gears with the 2 x 10 setup on my Flash Alu 29er, but I only used the very big gear at the back once or twice. I managed to spin nicely up all the hills and did a time of 5:04. Edited September 26, 2012 by PeterF
