in a nutshell , grease with grit in it .so you dont have to over tighten the carbon to stop it slipping and it wont creak .

actually its a paste (grease) with tiny plastic beads in it. it reduces the gap between parts so that creaks are diminished and less torque is needed to tighten (i still tighten to recommended kn with a torque wrench.)

heres a link for more info:

So my first 24hrs of Wiensenhof a good odd years ago a certain William Kieth was riding on a set of carbon bars. On a rather "quick" DH section the bars snapped, Mr Kieth then bought a great plot out on the trail and looked like he had had been dragged over a man sized cheese grater.

Mr Kieth sent his wife off to his bike shop to go and fetch him another bar so that he could continue his race.

I would love a Carbon Easton Haven bar, but the thought scares the living day lights out of me!

I don't wanna know why though...

I like my stuff over-engineered. Plus, I would be stoopid to go weight-weenie. I've got more than enough shedding to go on for myself, before I start shelling out $$$$ for a lighter steed.

it's like riding with cell phone in back pocket, as you go over the bars, the remember to fall on side jumps into mind.

Just remember to fall sideways.

I think you just need to see what your bike shop has in stock.

Yeah I bought that tube which was over R120, you only need a bit so a little sachet is cool for 1 or 2 applications.

It does have an abrasive action so just be careful sliding your bar around in the clamp.

or... if you go big spender, have a look at the Enve carbon bars.

DH world champs was won on a set of Enve carbons

Patches, you seem wise in the ways of internet commerce - where do I source Enve bling?

Seems a bit scarce. (I'm looking for a stem and a flat bar.)
