What's cool is that the Team Time Trial is back in the mix!

This event is opening it all up on Sunday, with an uphill finish I read somewhere?

Hope South Africa gets ample TV coverage!

Interestingly, the teams will be riding this in their PRO team 'outfit'.

Will not earn a rainbow jersey, but a lil' badge symbol thingie on future jerseys.

Some more preview from cyclingnews.com:

The Route - road race course

Elite men

Distance: 265km

Procycling tips: If he finds his form then Philippe Gilbert will go well, Alejandro Valverde is well suited and Peter Sagan was born for this.

U23 men

Distance: 161km

Procycling tips: This race could be the best chance for a home winner. Look out for Moreno Hofland and Wouter Wippert.

Elite women

Distance: 129km

Procycling tips: Britain’s Emma Pooley is sure to attack on the Cauberg but the extra 1.7km to the line makes Marianne Vos favourite.

The Route - time trial course

Elite men

Distance: 45.7km

Procycling tips:

In the absence of Wiggins and Froome, this is likely to be a win for Tony Martin. Taylor Phinney and Luis León Sánchez will scrap over the remaining medals.

Elite women

Distance: 24.3km

Procycling tips:

The hilly course will suit Emma Pooley well. Also look for Olympic TT bronze medallist Olga Zabelinskaya and Linda Villumsen who was a close 4th in London and also 3rd at this year’s La Flèche Wallonne Féminine.

Under 23

Distance: 36km

Procycling tips:

Our clear pick here is Luxembourger Bobby Jungels, twice a silver medallist in the European U23 TT champs and he won’t turn 20 until five days after this event, when he should be in the road race.

Gilbert will break on the climb. If Sagan sticks in a group going over the climb its his for the taking. His coach has been playing down his form since the Tour. Valverde aint a darkhorse considering his form in the Vuelta.

TTT today:

14:40:20 CEST

MTN-Qhubeka were the day's first starters, and they've just reached the finish in a time of 1:06:55, which works out an average speed of just over 47.5kph over what is a very rolling and technical course.

Why is it called the World TTT Championships? They road in trade teams, not national teams.

Yeah, some new dimension.

The winning team won't get to wear Rainbow Stripes though.
