With the current exchange rate is it still worth while shopping over the seas?

Well, in theory... My girlfriend's bike needed a 9-speed, relatively entry level drivetrain (incl. front chainrings). My LBS quoted almost 2.5k - which immediately sent me looking online. Usually SA stores do fine, but this time, I would have had to source the components from at least 3 different stores (stock issues, price differences, etc.)

So, as a "last resort" I decided to use CRC (for the first time as well). And at the same time I filled the basket with other stuff as well to make it more worth it. So yes, it can be worth it cost wise, but in terms of shipping times...

I've been waiting since September. Just about given up

Mine eventually arrived - ordered 16 September. Handwritten slip delivered to my old work address but it got through.

Have faith - we are accelerating backwards as a country but eventually seems to be the watch word....

I also ordered stuff from wiggle in September and it arrived last week.

Even if you do not have an international tracking number, you can phone the international mail centre and when you finally get through, give them your name and delivery address. If it has been logged on the SAPO system they will be able to track it based on your name and delivery address and then give you a local tracking number, after that you can track it using the track and trace website

So, I finally managed to get through to the Cape Mail Hub on the phone yesterday.  I was told to come collect the parcel in Goodwood, and told to bring along the invoice as I would still need to pay for the VAT, which is normal.

This morning I received a phone call from them (021 590 5716) stating that they were going to deliver the goods to the business address I specified on the Chain Reaction website - and I could pay the driver the outstanding VAT - no extra delivery cost it seems!

Awesome!

Timeline of events:

• 03/02/15:  Placed my order on the Chain Reaction website & used the "Standard Delivery" option (paid 6.50 pounds, dispatched with Parcelforce.)

• 08/02/15:  Order arrived at the JHB INT Mail Centre.

• 11/02/15:  Arrived at Cape Mail Hub.

• 12/02/15:  Being delivered to my business address, pay the VAT on arrival.

Hope this helps - also, check out this awesome website for tracking just about any registered / courier parcels: https://www.17track.net/en/

Was this the standard delivery AKA cheapest option?

I ordered late Jan (26/01/2015). Got a CRC156538**** order number, but its not registered on any services. All it says on CRC's website is "Shipped".

Also, wherI find the number of the Cape Mail Hub?

'appreciated :)

On your Chain Reaction's account page (once you've logged in) you should be able to click on the order number - then it will give you more details on your parcel tracking number etc.

stick that tracking number into the 17track website as above, and you should see it.

Yes, I used the cheapest option - went with Parcelforce.

Google Cape Mail Hub, or try these numbers: Customs on 021 590-5716 / 5728 / 5488

Apparently my order is neither Parcelforce nor Royal Mail. So no tracking options available. Guess I'll just have to annoy the sh** out of the Mail Hub Call Centres...  <_<

Ordered two tyres, dispatched on 6 January 2015 (Day after order) by normal mail and still waiting. According to our local Post Office there is still a backlog at the JHB depot. According to CRC's website it normally takes 4-8 working days with normal mail to SA, but clearly not with our current Post Office problems.

Collected my tyres today from the Post Office, so about 10 weeks. Still these Amber wall tyres that I could not find locally look great on my vintage Bianchi so worth the wait.
