From what I heard from the resident's meetings with Joburg Parks, no. The dam side of the park was to be separated from the South side and access is to be from the respective car parks. Technically you could ride around but not shoot straight through. I am not exactly sure how long ago this was but fencing had commenced and was halted due to opposition to the scheme. The fence that was erected was on the western side by the nurseries and admin buildings. I am pretty sure there was a thread on thehub about this.

Everyone please be aware that I will probably be riding the Spruit this afternoon, and according to the rule "he/she who has the most travel, has right of way", anyone with less than 160mm should steer clear!

The last time I saw you on The Spruit you were pushing your long travel bike home. Please be aware that riders have right of way over bike pedestrians so stay off the path. TIA

 ...I'm pretty sure I still had right of way when taking my big bike for a walk.

This time I'm riding one of the choopliss bikes though!

There are very few times when my 150mm has to give way to longer travel bikes. 4barlinkage and myself got buzzed by a bunch of dirt roadies on the Spruit a few months ago. He was on his 180mm bike but we still overtook and beat them to the following road crossing.
