Langebaan Lagoon Cycle Challenge

Who has done this one? I am looking at doing this for the first time. Would appreciate any feedback from hubbers and what to expect from route. Finish is on Mamba Hill. Is it quite tough at the finish and how far is it from the start? Here is the link to PPA page and event. Anybody have a profile and aerial route map? Thanks in advance.

I did this three years ago. It was my first race. I cannot say how difficult the end was because I passed out half way up mamba hill and woke up on my back. blush.png I am sure for all the more experienced racers it would not be very tough.

If i remember correctly the start is in Langebaan then there is a neutral zone until you get into the park. The start of racing is just before or after going down the hill. rollers all way after that. Could be pretty tough if the wind blows which being Langebaan it probably will.

if the wind blows its a bugger of a ride. no or very little motorised traffic in the reserve

My understanding was they close the park to traffic for the duration of the race. No cars besides the organisers vehicles.

Its a cool race! The wind almost always blows. It is rollers all the way. You will be surpized at the total accumulated climbing at the end of the ride. Enjoy! West Coast is a great place. Make a wknd out of it

I just klapped the reserve this morning. Cycled the same route at the West Coast Race.

First time (2 years ago), I nearly died, very tough.

In my opinion, and absolutely beautfil and awesome training route.

I did it 3 years back. Did the Burger the weekend before with a 36km/h avg. Did this race with a 31 avg. A tough race when the wind blow. No traffic and nice views. Just watch out for the tortoises.

Where is this Stumpnose Rock (aka Mamba Hill). How far is it from finish? Btw is the route an out and back?

The finish is on top of that hill. Ugly little bugger.

Granted, but where is it? There is a hill close to waters edge as you leave Langebaan heading out into reserve, is that it. I cant see the sense in heading out and finishing race on other side of lagoon.
