DHers and XCers competing in symbiosis

I just saw this you the yoo-choob, and the idea looks pretty cool. It may be something worth trying out here in SA as a once off event.

Basically it's a relay. Each team comprises of a DHer and a XCer. The DHer descends the course, to pass the timing chip to the XCer. He then climbs back to the start of the DH course (obviously different route so as not to be an obstacle to the descenders).

The principle is to cplete as many laps as possible in 1hr. The only catch with having this in SA is that we would need either a ski lift (for the DHer to get back up and the XCer to get back down, or very frequent shuttling.

Or perhaps the winner could be determined on combined lap and section times, with a minimum of X amount of laps to be completed.

But yeah, I just thought it was a pretty cool race concept.

Hey what if we split the costs of a ski lift and install it in Tokai. Sounds great huh?

I know for a FACT the old Les Gets lift is for sale. The problem is all the fynbos huggers.

Will they sell just half of it? We don't have mountains long enough for that lift  That lift ride alone must be close on 10min.

Sounds like a cool idea, the logistics are obviously a problem here.. offtopic.gif on a side note looks like quite an old video (stevie's still racing with evil)

Yeah, Evil and TLD... he hasn't been with them for a while now.

As for logistics... well, I think if it is organized in heats (like mankele avalanche) then there won't be the need for ski lifts and frequent shuttling.
