On a serious note, try citronella body cream, I know you get it at some outdoor shops, apparently the scent of citronella is a natural insect repellent. That's the best I can think of to avoid getting bitten.

Yes they are nasty bliksems - and they bite through lycra!

 

I found dabbing Tabbard works well. You also get a spray.

Some perfumes tend to attract insects (symilar to some pheromone they like?) I've found that with some Calvin Klein fragrance all manner of bugs were chasing me. Now I make sure I don't smell like a sophisticated city slicker whenever I go into the bundu. Use it / don't use it.
