disclaimer: not nearly as impressive as they guy building a carbon frame at home, http://www.thehubsa....le-speed-build/

anyways decided that since I have had this bike for 3 years which is a record in my books it was time for some new clothes, decided to strip it myself and see what the raw look would be like first

The beginning....creme and custard.....getting tired

add some Removall

and nearly all off

then decided to but all back together, took of all of 10 minutes thanks to a proper stand (don't what I've been doing all these years without one)

then decided some new paint is needed.

(you'll have to use your imagination now)

stripped parts off again

"mental pic here"

dropped it off at BMC

"mental pic here"

off to get a custom colur mixed tomorrow

stay tuned.....

ok, side line project while waiting for the frame to be painted.....

cranks on my Bowery were awful......so:

step 1: remove cranks

http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy25/rock78pics/Cranks/CapeTown-20121117-00549.jpg

step 2: place them on the floor

http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy25/rock78pics/Cranks/CapeTown-20121117-00548.jpg

step 3: keep you hands clean and get the nearest 3 year old to apply paint stripper

http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy25/rock78pics/Cranks/CapeTown-20121117-00550.jpg

step 6: try your hand at a little DIY sanding and polishing

http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy25/rock78pics/Cranks/CapeTown-20121118-00559.jpg

step 7: decide to take crank to a pro to finish

step 8: refit, job done

I like the polished look!

Btw, you are brave to let a 3 year old do the stripper and lucky you only got the cranks stripped and not half the housebiggrin.png . Have you seen the thread about getting superglue off your drivetrain? Little one tried to lube the bike using superglue in stead of bike lubebiggrin.png !

R120 pretty polishers in paarden eiland...

Are those the same guys that use to be in Albert rd, Woodstock? They used to be in a small backroom at the back of a building next to panelbeaters.

Looks good rock...is that the same plascon paint stripper from Muddymike?

Yip it is! clap.gif Glad it worked so well. Dont worry that it takes some time, that just means more time to ride and drink beer while it does its job. Nice job on the crank BTW.
