Tip, when shopping online, download and save the picture of for sale item.

goto google.com, choose images and search using your saved file.

3 results....

1. > The picture shows hits on multiple sites, under different sale descriptions, etc etc = SCAM.

2. > The picture is a marketing photo, used by many sites, so obviously the person downloaded the image from a website and used it on his/her advert. Ask for actual pictures of the for sale item and if these don't get a hit on google feel a bit safer.

3. > The image search reveals the advert pic to be unique or only used by the seller, then feel a bit safer.

In your case, I did the google image search and the same picture is used on junkmail.co.za, justpost.co.za, but under the name of George...

The pic seems to be a stock photo...

I'd feel uncomfortable if I was you...

Check the heading. Guys who have an interest in, in this case, cycling, won't make up a heading like this. "bicycle wheelset" ? Seriously? :D

(Also, the guy's from Brakpan. Enough said)

And yeah, The above applies, but only if the guy claims it's a photo. Lots of guys use manufacturer images.

2012 Mavic Cosmic Carbone Ultimate Bicycle Wheelset

Looks dodgy to me cause those rims are worth more than half the cars in Brakpan. ;)

Seriously, those specs are pure copy and paste from a German website judging by the "Min. Reifendruck: 8 bar / 115 psi" and you wouldn't even find CRC or CWC quoting those type of specs.

Price seems to good to be true an in my opinion, an easy way for the dude to make a quick R4k without any outlay.

Where are you based? If its within an hour or two of Brakpan it might be worthwhile to drive through for a face-to-face meeting with the seller and do a cash buy. That way he gets the full amount of money only when he hands over the wheels...

I am based in CT. Also found the add on other websites with a number. He also has zipp 404 and 808's advertised. He has a non South African accent and cant tell me anything about the wheels......

I now have no doubt he is a chancer!

Watch out for bikes from the Uk, USA and Indonesia from unknown suppliers. Especially when they are about 45% less than retail in SA.

You will get -:)

Nothing back

You will be lead to to BELIVE you dealing with reputable supplier

Don't be fooled.

If its too good to be true, it generally isn't!

As has been mentioned. looks to me like a copy and paste from a spec sheet.

And if you cant establish the credentials of the seller, don't deal with them.

Scamming thieves have realised there is lots of money changing hands in the cycle world here, scam a day coming up here on the hub.

Tell him you have some tjommies here in GP who will can come tjek them out 1st. Bob will go, its just down the road for him.

Otherwise I would go but I have become too disorientated in the East Rand since all the mine dumps have disappeared.
