  1. https://isikosports.co.za/ They took over AMS from TrailTech while it was in limbo. TrailTech only has their custom branded kits, Isiko Sports seems to have pretty much the full range.
  2. Is there the option to change date to something normal, and not Americanised? I looked but I don't have a 25th month in my calendar...
  3. I donated a few things about 3-4 weeks ago. Dropped them off with Revolution Cycles in Bree Street, they have a box in the corner for all cycling related donations.
  4. Last time that I had access to a scale was last Tuesday, so I'll just log that weight for now. I'll get back to being able to weigh from tomorrow, so there might be an update. My weightloss has definitely not been linear, so I'll see whether it's a good or a bad surprise (The big spike in weight was last year September, when I spent a month travelling, including about 10 days in Italy with all the pizza and gelato. I definitely packed on a few kilos while there)
  5. This month has been filled with ups and downs. My weeks have alternated with days where I am motivated to exercise and eat well and ones where I honestly could give a rat's ass about any of it and proceed to be my couch's best friend and stuff my face with all things yummy. Forgot to weigh this morning, might be that I know I'll be up because pizza is life and I've enjoyed too many treats this month, added to the laziness in the morning has overridden the desire to get up and exercise.
  6. That is pretty standard practice from them, I always double check their prices. But to be fair, the jacket is listed on the Ciovita site directly as R1899...
  7. This is very quickly getting old, just getting the same sales pitch as response to different people talking about bike insurance. We get it. No need to flog a dead horse. 7 posts in a 25 post thread basically saying the same thing... no need to give the same sales pitch again and again and again (and again). It is actually this type of behaviour which will ensure that I will not be heading over to your site.
  8. Those messages are also dated 20 March, so pre-lockdown. Trails are still closed.
  9. No need to move the dough from sunny spot to sunny spot. just wrap in electric blanket and turn it on low
  10. Ciovita Apex bibs were R2999 at the CTCT Expo, before the expo discount, now I see they're R3499. quite a steep increase in 3 weeks.
  11. would have been nice if the ladies bib shorts were in sizes other than for tiny people...
  12. Slight drop in weight this month, so whoop whoop! This right at the time where I have been travelling a lot, with 9 days in Johannesburg and Ethiopia, and another 3 days in Zambia, giving me very little time at home in the last 3 weeks to manage my own shopping and cooking. It's been an interesting 4 weeks though, with our gym's 8 week challenge going. Overall it has massively helped me in making better nutritional choices than I normally would while on the road. I am also used to having a weight-loss challenge where the main aim is to just lose as much weight as possible within a given time. I am very much appreciating (and sometimes find it frustrating) that they are putting emphasis on a more long-term holistic approach to health.
  13. I passed 3 large-ish groups waiting on Suikerbossie this morning. All of them leaving enough space to safely pass on the left of the yellow line. So it can be done. So be considerate, and don’t be ****.
  14. I had the same happen to me last week doing an early morning ride. Turned round top of Suikerbossie, and then when heading back down to Camps Bay, had to swerve into the road to avoid what looks to be the same bunch of riders. Which I found not cool. While waiting for the rest of the group, you really don't have to stand 3 abreast having a lekker chat. Be aware, leave at least enough space for a bike to squeeze in between the tea party and the yellow line.
  15. My gym started an 8 week challenge on Saturday, looking at instilling good habits for nutrition, exercise and recovery. This might be the kick up the ass I need to get my act together and lose those 5kg...
  16. Windguru doesn't really have any forecast spots close to Stellenbosch/Paarl/Wellington areas. And if you look at windy.com you'll see that the whole area for the SCT is coloured blue/green, so not too bad. Sure... along the coast it's different...
  17. I'm in exactly the same boat. needing surgery and being off the bike for the last third of the year also didn't help. but back to riding more regularly now, and silly season with all the treats is now over, back to cleaning up the diet and hopefully the scale will move in the right direction soon.
  18. 3 months of chaos... September was a whole month of travel, including 2.5 weeks of holiday travel, and then 2 weeks work travel for a new job. October and November came, and brought along a new relationship, me crashing off my bike and tearing a ligament in my thumb which required surgery, moving to a new apartment and the associated packing and unpacking (with a splinted hand). So now we're in December. I haven't had a proper ride since beginning of October while recovering from surgery. My weight is still up from where I was in August, but I'm happy to say that it seems to at least stabilised. Hopefully the chaos calms down somewhat. My surgeon has cleared me for road rides, and I am finding the time and energy to put the necessary effort to eat better so hopefully the downward weight trend will start soon. I might not reach my goal weight this year, but given the circumstance, I can live with that
  19. Before I insured my bikes, I got both of them valued in writing from reputable bike shops, and sent these through with my other documentation to get a quote. The valuations were to get me on a similar bike in case of theft or breakage, so it would be for a full carbon road bike frame with the same spec groupset and wheels. Both valuations clearly state that it's for replacement value, and since I'm paying the appropriate premium for that value, insurance should pay out accordingly. But maybe it is worth to check with them...
  20. Also look at Alexander Forbes. Cyclesure was only willing to insure the value I paid for my second hand bikes, instead of replacement value. Got AF to quote on my household and car insurance and they came in lower than Santam so I moved my entire portfolio across. Friends claiming from AF also never had a problem.
  21. I went OTB at top of Armageddon, tried plowing the ground with my face but luckily wearing a full face. thumb decided to stay behind though, so looks like I tore a ligament off the base of it. Seeing a hand specialist tomorrow to get final diagnosis and looking at a potential reattachment surgery.
  22. Thank you! seeing Dr Solomons on Friday, seems to be a busy guy
  23. It's my hand, I would rather go to someone overqualified than underqualified...
  24. I took a bit of tumble off the bike on Sunday (or more a full face plant OTB, thank goodness for a full face helmet). I initially thought I walked away with just a few bruises and a sprained thumb, but a trip to the emergency room yesterday confirmed it was a torn ligament. Any recommendations for a hand specialist in the Cape Town area? Preferably looking for someone operating outs of Constantiaberg, CT Mediclinic or Milnerton Medi...
  25. I travelled all of September, about 3 weeks of holidays, and 2 weeks of travel for work. I apparently didn't hold back when it came to eating all the food though, including the week before I left, which involved a lot of eating out to catch up with friends before my trip. Result: 3.5kg up today... which is a bit frustrating, but also just a nudge to get back into good habits. Eating well. Exercising. Getting enough sleep. My gym is having their "8 to Great" challenge, which I missed the start of while I was overseas, but I am joining them for the last 6 weeks. One of their key components is the 800g challenge, which essentially means getting 800g of fruit and veg in per day. Which is a lot. I need to go shopping today...
