That 36er looks like a real plan though... Hahahahahaha!!

probably not such a bad idea, you'll look more normal than some short chicks on their 29ers.

@Dangle - this guy needs a BG Fit, longer cranks, seat post, riser stem and handlebar.

Be gentle Dangle, friend of mine.

Yeah just the riser bars and stem makes a HUGE difference. Been doing those upgrades on every single bike I owned since I was a kid. One of my previous bikes was HUGE HUGE Giant xtc. It was way too big, even though it was correct. The bikes since then was normal XL size and they were perfect with the above upgrades. The bigger the bike the harder it becomes to ride them, so first do those upgrades before spending on a larger bike.

Both Santa Cruz (Tallboy Carbon) and Spez (SJ FSR) make XXL models.

Do invest in a proper bike setup though.

Victor rides a 23 inch Merida big nine .I am 6.4 and am on the max of a 22 inch bike .Hatfield cycles has a 23 inch merida in stock currenly .Santacruz tallboy xxl was avaliable at hermanus cycles not long ago

I'll take the bike to be set up properly... And hopefully I can get away with an extended seat post, riser bars and a steeper stem...

@Traaidmark: Could agree more... Size 13 shoe and 125kg... At least I can paint ceilings with a lot of ease!!

LOL! I wear a EU48 sidi shoes (somewhere between 13 and 14) but have my weight down to 92Kg's from 108Kg's 3 years ago (1.95m tall). I got my shoes straight from ASG as none of the local bike shops stock my shoe size.

Should you not be playing rugby or basketball instead of cycling?

You are 2cm taller than South Africa's tallest rugby player ever - where do you buy your clothes?

Vic is 2.00m

Andries is 2.08m

I'm 2.10m

ok, I've stood next to bekker before and he's a giant of a man - I'm a scrawny 6'2. (I'm ok with that as my wife is probably 5'4, got a photo of her posing with GIANT(as in the gladiator) at a wedding and she basically came up to his belly button). So what rung of the ladder was the photographer on to take the profile pic of you?!

I'd also think that because of your size some of the usual fitting calculations might not be suitable. I'd actually really look into a custom build, you'll no doubt save in the long run (do you spend as much time at the physio as Bekker?!). Who can help out with custom frames here, or would one go overseas and ship it in?

Zinn Cycles (Lennard Zinn- of Bicycling tech guru fame) specialises in bikes for "clydesdales"

They will ship.

I think a custom bike build is the way to go for you.

Definitely go for a thorough fit inj the meantime, though.

Perhaps talk to Patric Morewood of Pyga bikes. He may be willing to make a custom frame for you and give him some good PR. Like: "Lookey here, Pyga is the biggest thing ever!" Or: "Pyga is bigger than Giant"

Will chat to Patrick later at our weekly braai. Sure he has some free time to make one custom frame for a buddy of a pal...
