I'm guessing it's there to serve the same purpose as an uper guide, but has to be moved forward to accomodate the FD. But that then makes it kinda redundant.

If you're wanting a 2 ring guide, try the new Truvativ X-guide 2x10 (Approx R1385 Ex Vat & shipping)

Yeah, with the slider so far forward it just becomes an aesthetic addition. There is no way the chain is gonna bounce off the front of the ring. I'm a little concerned it is just going to be a mud collecting point. :D

I got the Blackspire for R700 six months ago. Even though it was the 2012 version it is absolutely identical to the 2013 in the link.

Pay a bit once off and never be stuck next to the trail again losing your sense of humor.

Happened to me way too many times at Fountains/Groenkloof one morning.

One has to run a single or two ring set up for use with these right .... I ride like a girl with a tripple ring on the Shova and don't loose the chain very often.

There are a couple of guides for triples. Think Blackspire does one.

Is there are particular reason you run triple? I going that a 36T 28T dual up front (lose the big ring) will slow you to do pretty much anything. In fact 36T single is even sufficient.

The guides really price their worth over really fast bumpy descents where you're pedalling at the same time, or when jumping.

"not losing the chain very often" vs "not at all" could be write a big difference if one were to nut themselves due to slipped chain

I have one of these on my Reign. Works well. No complaints at all. I seem to remember it making a significantly larger dent in my wallet than R1350 tho.

Also. I wouldn't recommend running bigger than a 36 chainring. 38 is just a little too big and it hooks on the rollers a bit.

Bru in Cape Town we have these things. They are called mountains. You have to be pretty strong to push just a 36 here. In all seriousness running just a 36 in Cape town you have to be kaak strong. My mate Nic is strong and he runs a 34 up front with a 10 speed setup in the back with his biggest gear being a 36.

I run 26 36 on the front. and then my rear is 34 11. Likey.

Have a meduim mbuzi, bought it second hand, from the day I first sat on it I realized the potential of it .Have a triple chain ring as ride it uphill as well as down, find it does not drop the chain.Had a 160talas fork which was in bad condition, changed it for a lyric coil DH with low speed a high speed compression, and went for 170mm,with a hard spring. It is well suited to the nature of my riding which is intermediate DH and I like jumping.Supprised the bike is not more common.

Yeha. The Stinger is relatively cheap at approx R 250 - R 300 locally (Dial'd Bikes) and the Bash RIng can be bought according to your taste. What also works is a ground down big ring...

Where's them Dial'd bikes. I am going to look for them.. Stinger in this country??!! Nooo! Really?

@SirM - Did you have this at Mikes Bikes yesterday afternoon? It or one like it arrived while I was 'helping' on my training partenrs bike, and I was meaning to take a look, and the next thing I turned around and it was gone... Damn...
