Why are you selling both?

Either replace the frame to match the fork or replace the fork to match the frame...

Just seen your original post - you obviously want to keep the tapered DT Swiss fork... And get a tapered framed.

Why not sell the tapered fork?

I have a Dt Swiss tapered fork which won't fit. The scale team comes with a rock shox tora lockout. I will need a new frame to fit the Dt so won't need the rock shox.

Yeah. Just re read the original post and figured you want to keep the DT Swiss fork?

If you happy with the frame why not sell the two forks and get a straight steerer DT Swiss?

Cost me quite a bit for the Dt Swiss but was still a good deal. I think it would be honestly cheaper to change the frame.

Hi guys.

I know this sounds like a stupid question. But is it possible to run a tapered fork(DT Swiss Xmm 100mm 150mm steerer) with a none tapered frame, 2011 Scott Scale team 29er. I have seen different reviews and a local cycle shop says its impossible but came across this article.

Anyone know more about this?? Please.

s legit. However it wil change the bike geometry by one degree. The bike will be slacker and will act a bit les than a XC bike and more like an AM bike, but a most races and racers in South Afric are for fun it probably will not make a difference. It may actually be "more better".

Looking to do something simular on my Scott Spark 29er team 2012

It has a straight steerer at the moment, and I want to fit a tapered fork.

The headtube is tapered, but the bottom of the headtube does not open to the full diameter, like it has been left closed to fit the headset for the smaller steerer - so no idea how Im going to do this yet...

Also planning on doing the same - the guys at EVO Cycles in Durbanville knew what I was talking about apparently its really not difficult, just the case of fitting an adapter

What is the diameter of the head tube?

If it's 1.5 inches or tapered you can and I suggest you fire your bike shop.

Cane Creek make reducer headsets for this. But only if your head tube is 1.5.

How many bikes come out with a 1.5inch diameter head tube? There can't be too many.

Yes, all you have to do is change the bottom headset cup to take a 1.5" steerer. I have done this to my morewood shova 2 years ago.

I recently did this mod on my 06 Giant Reign, you get Canecreek and Hope adapters, I was lucky and a fellow hubber made one for me, turned out pretty sweet.

If you have a 44mm ID headtube, you can run one of these:

If your headtube is any smaller, you may be out of luck unless you custom make a lower external headset cup. Did this for my dad's previous bike.

I'm running one of these Brand_X headsets, works like a charm. Note that it will raise your front end by 20mm. My bike has been designed around it so it's taken into account, but otherwise good luck and hope you come right. Nothing is impossible.

Olympic cycles had stock, of those adapters. Otherwise you can order from them. Think it was cane or hope. Clint at the Bike Park did mine, Vertex 29, I'm no fantastical rider, so can't complain. I think it about 5mm overall lift as the fork goes deeper into the cup.
