On behalf of Revolution Cycles, who were hit by organised thiefs on Saturday 29 Dec:

Hi Bike Shop Owners and Staff

On Saturday 29 December 2012 at 17.42 two thieves broke the metal gate locks and smashed down our front door and stole three bikes in 14 seconds flat.

The thieves were ‘posing’ as informal car guards wearing yellow vests and jeans. One guy wore a peak cap and the other one wore sunglasses.

Video footage indicates that both perpetrators are young (late teens to early twenties) coloured guys.

It seems that they had a vehicle waiting outside and drove off within seconds of loading the three new bikes.

The bikes stolen are all new 2013 models (without pedals) with Revolution Cycles decals applied to the frames.

Felt F85 road bike – white - size 56

Merida Big Ninety Nine 29’er full suspension – white with blue and black - Large 19"

Merida Scultura 904 Juliet women’s specific carbon road bicycle - small/medium - white with black purple.

Please be on the lookout for these bikes and advise us should you see them:

- come into your shop.

- on Gumtree

- on the street or mountain

- anywhere

Please forward on to as many bike shops as you can (anywhere in the country) - together we have to catch these guys.

Thanks.

Stirling

Cyclelab Winelands was hit on a Saturday afternoon before Xmas as well. They broke through front door and made off with 8 bikes. Chucked everything on a back of bakkie in about 30 secs.

why not? it's an accurate description of their demographic, no? No element of stereotyping or racial bias.

seems the underworld+dog has cottoned onto the value of bicycles in general: stuff's just rolling around, most times, completely untraceable, and with bikes being kitted out as they are, represent a sizable resale proposition.Meals on wheels...

and given what CIppo just poste, seems like a syndicate behind the thefts. Too well organized.

Wasn't CWC hit about the same time last year too?

Twice.

At their old and new location.

Exactly what happened at CWC a year ago ... except they DROVE the bakkie through the front door and smashed 4 Pina's in the process and then continued their shopping spree.

In and out with bikes loaded on the bakkie in under 30sec

Cycles Direct Blouberg hit in November,7 bikes gone(epics and anthems). The guys were pros, less than a minute in and out.Got it all on video.Think it was the same white van that hit Gecko cycles.Apparently guys were caught and were out on bail.Biggest problem hear is that there is obviously a buyer.

Facts are Facts :) the truth hurts !

I totally agree with you. But due to previous topics on the hub I just wanted to throw a bit of sarcasm into the mix!
