Pretty normal - my Meta order was the same ..... those French-Spanish-Andorran dudes are very chilled .....

... but when it gets here ...... you will dig it!

the Following is $2600 for the frame but not sure on shipping

Yeah got the quote for a frameset and for a complete bike(X1 build).

The complete bike actually makes more sense but they want $500 shipping and will only use Fedex.

I am really at a crossroads..........

If you inport a complete bike you are going to get clapped by duty!

They are willing to split it and send as franeset and parts.

What are the import duty/VAT costs for importing a bike or parts btw?

On a complete bike you'll pay 15% duty and then pay VAT on top of that.

If they split it for you then you'll only pay VAT on the frame & only pay VAT on the parts (i.e. no duties on bicycle spares), but they would have to be sent as two individual packages (AFAIK).

The VAT will work out to 15.4% (as SARS adds 10% to the invoiced amount before applying the 14% VAT).

That $500 is cheaper than some of the qoutes I got. Must say I prefer fedex over DHL. Will have to get a qoute.

Those are std rates

You have SA Customs fees that will be waiting for you this side as well

There is a good reason most foreign manufacturers use FedEx when shipping to SA or elsewhere.

This gives you but a small taste of what us Importers/Distributors have to go through.

No walk in the park.

Trust me, Andrew at Dial'd is not delaying.

Everything has to do with constant comms and the speed at which all entities involved do their work.

Being patient is a good thing.

The wait is worth it;)

I hear you.

Sometimes it is better to support local.

On another note - SA Customs is not fooled

They know full-well what is going down

They too keep meticulous records for tracking purposes

The essential part is the frame - that is really what everyone is trying to get there hands on

Parts can rather be acquired locally as it is not worth the import shlep

Going local is to expensive for me. I have till now go everything cheaper from over the seas (landed prices) and well worth the 1 week - 2 weeks wait (yes I have been lucky too regarding the posting times)
