quintonb Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Leigh the owner of cycle centre has/had a custom built titanium tandem that he and his girlfriend use when the travel overseas. The whole bike breaks up and fits in a small box. It's very impressive to see. The only logical reason one would have them is of you travel a lot. It's like a folding bike, only much better. Heenan 1
amasendeinja Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Why split the front triangle of a frame? Cool engineering but I don't get it... As said already for travel purposes only. Many airlines, especially in the US, charge a lot of money for any oversized baggage. This can easily be $250 one way. Generally the cost of installing couplers to split the frame is paid for within one return trip flight.
