Did the trail at the Big Red Barn on Saturday. About 25km, almost all single track through bluegum forests. Food, drinks available afterwards. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Irene / Olifantsfontein area.

There's certainly something there for everyone. Green, blue and black sections well marked. Some of the black stuff is quite technical. Even a "broken ribs" jump section! Loads of single track!

Flows fantastically. Easy riding, even on the Blue Route. Black has some nice "play parks". Once you get into your rythym here you can hold good speed for long stretches. The only drama is the river section which stinks very badly of human waste - must do something about this!

i love the Barn - like trail - er - park said - the nice flowing single track is a blast taken at speed. they've made small berms in some of the corners, so keeping the rhythm is easy. there's a new section with big drop-offs that are great fun too.

the trail runners are also using the Barn more and more, since the Warrior race is held there, so one has to keep a lookout for runners on the trails at some points.

Rode the "blue" intermediate course today. This course is a great way of building your confidence over relatively technical terrain.

Great, great fun...

My wife and I went to Big Red Barn on Sunday morning, what a great spot. Lots of single track, especially the last 7-8kms of the Intermediate is just fast forest track, really cool. My wife isnt too keen on technical and often goes without cleats at Groenkloof, but she loved this trail and was comfortable in most spots with the cleats on, so would recommend it.

Weirdly enough on Sunday there was no-one checking tickets if bought or sold, not sure if this is normal practice. Effectively you could just park and ride straight away.

Definitely our new favourite place!

My view on the paying thing - you shouldnt have to be watched over by an 'police man'.

It should be out of respect and gratitude that you pay without "having to show a ticket somewhere".

I hope every one pays where ever there is a fee to pay. There is a reason they charge us.

We to have made this our "Homebase"

Love the single track and the technical bits on the green and blue route are do-able without having to pay with an arm and a leg :)

Single track is epic through the woods............and I want to encourage you to go ride the USN race there in Feb. We did it this year...........Boy WAS IT FUN......It rained the night before so we had proper Camel Trophy mud and water to content with.......Epic fun

Nice thing is these guys are properly geared with decant facilities and a restaurant.......so well worth supporting them as these sort of facilities aren't' cheap to run.maintain

Pricing is R40 per person.

You can however buy a multiple entry ticket which works out cheap in the long run

Safety is not a problem at present as they have people looking after your car in both car parks....and on the track we have not yet seen or picked up any "foreigners"
