Picked her up from Tool-Up yesterday  Rocky Mountain Slayer 70 Waiting on all the build bits from various sources - Should hopefully have everything by end of next week and ready in time to trial her out at the Hakahana Enduro. Only things I'm using from my current components is Reverb, Stem, Crank and wheelset (Although decided to rebuild with Hope Pro 2 Evo's as had to upgrade the rear to 12x142 from QR) - Everything else new and especially for this build. IMG_3606.JPG IMG_3602.JPG IMG_3599.JPG

Not going to be available locally, they can't get supply from the US but rather somewhere in France which will make its price to high for locals.  So if you want one, it will have to be an import. Looking at over R3k for the helmet.

A friend of mine ordered through Mikes Bikes. May want to give the shop a shout.

 

Personally I'm not a fan of its looks. Great concept, just don't like the design and styling.

 

The bell Super 2 is such a great looking helmet on its own. They adapted a mouthpiece to suit an already finished and good looking helmet, they should have just redesigned the whole thing to get the proportions and design right.

 

There was no reason to use the existing Super 2 design because as far as I'm aware, you can't just buy the mouthpiece and use it with your normal Super 2? I may be wrong though as just scraping bits from text I read on its initial release.

the only reason people on the ews carry 2 helmets is because the rules state that they have to be wearing a helmet all the time and they have to have a full face for the times sections, and since they dont want to be wearing their hot dh helmet the whole way up a 2 and a half hour climb they bring an xc helmet which they strap to their backpack for the decents.

 

if the rules said "wear a helmet pls" then youd have a mix of people wearing everything from  xc hats that look like helmets to proper helmets like your TLD A1s, your urge enduromatics your bell supers ( the normal one) and people in full dh helmets because it make them more comfortable to push themselves.

 

this begs the question, why buy the new bell super if we dont have the same regulations, it doesnt even have the same safety rating as the full on dh lids?

 

because its cool, its like that old met parachute but not horrible, people will argue "why not just go the whole way and get a proper full face"

 

that missing the point, i dont want a full face, i want a piss pot, but this one looks like it will make me hurt less when i decide that that pointy rock down there needs a kiss right now.

yes it will be available locally, saying something isint available locally means you cant get it here... that mean you have to leave the country to get it.

you can get your bell super 2r without leaving south africa, you just need to look, find someone who stocks bell products and order it, if they tell you they cant get it its because they are being lazy and go fond another bell supplier, if you still cant find someone who isint so lazy just order it off one of many online stores.

you can even get a yt industries bike without leaving the country, and this will work for pretty much anything you think you cant get here

 

find someone you know overseas, preferably Europe, buy whatever it is you want and have whoever you bought it from send it to their address, then they can foreward it to you once they have it.

 

 

although if you get a bike like that you are missing a great holiday opportunity, what i would do is buy a yt capra and GO FETCH IT!! in france... for a few weeks..
