All I can say is to reduce until the tyre either starts rolling on the casings, or you start getting strikes. Normally round 1.5 to 1.6 bar or so depending on volume of tyres

Thanks very much for the advice! On my 29er XC bike I am running a Vredestein bobcat 2.35 in front at around 1.4bar and a Vredestein Black Panther Xtrac 2.2 on the back at around 1.6bar. That has worked well for me so far, even at Hakahana the tech bits were perfect with no burping.

The new bike has 26 inch wheels and I will be running Maxxis minions 2.5... So will just haveto experiment and see how low they can go. Will definitely have them loaded as tubeless then!

Thanks again!

I hand managed to run my minions at relatively low pressure. I pump up around 1.8 bar and then reduced pressure when on the trail and use the ultra reliable tyte squeeze method.

Which side wall casing are you using?

I weight in at 94/96kg and like to think I am quick in the rough and tech stuff.

I'm not heavy just under 60kgs, ran minion dhf exo front; high roller dual ply on the rear as well as the old nobby nic snakeskin.

Generally I do 27 to 30psi for rear, and 18 to 20psi front. Minion exo on the front for me at that pressure works well.

Just my 2c

Yea looked again the old one had the Guides on,how do the Codes stack up against the Guides.

Yip, they codes with Hope braided hose.

I can definitely feel the codes have more power than the guides but I feel its power that you don't really need (well not for Enduro/Trail). I have been using guides this year and they were perfect, didn't feel like I needed any more.

He's getting Hope brakes, these are just "make do for now / I have them in my garage " parts.

I'll just say I'm in between builds :whistling:

The Codes are off my Darkside while that is getting built over also.

Im running 30psi (2 bar'ish) but I run a bit harder than most people (and I weigh 83  )

What Hopes are you getting? I want to change my Shimano Slx brakes to something else, constantly having to bleed them. Thinking of going to Guides or something else.

I will be running the DHF/DHR mix. According to the site, they have the

  • 2-ply DH casings with butyl-protected sidewalls

Been very keen to run my DHR on the rear (VS the where they are on the front right now) and the DHF up front .... that DHR could just roll like a tank?!?!?

Apparently....and I speak under massive correction here so please, to the guys who do know best, dont crucify me....

The Maxxis rep informed my LBS that the DHR and DHF are position specific. So DHRear and DHFront and that is how they should be run. Apparently that is what the F and R stand for. I tried looking on the Maxxis website but no luck....and I have trust issues with SA reps for anything MTB....been burned badly in the past

clearly maxxis intended it that way, but there's nothing wrong with doing what you want. It's just a damn tyre to begin with! ppl are sticking on DHR2's up front and loving it. Think out of the little box the advertisers want you to play in, and you may just hit upon something awesome.

dhr2 on the front has been awesome for me....has a little drift in sandy sections though, but fortunately I rarely encounter lot's of sand......but with our dry summer note things could change. Dhf2 will fare better here

You'll find a lot of guys were using the DHF front and back, preferring the DHF over the DHR on the rear.

At one stage I had a DHR on the front of my XC bike, performed pretty well.

I believe the DHF2 and DHR2 are different animals.

So basically try it and see what you like
