His wounds

post-26427-1372879435,1138.jpg

Lance has got a great deal to answer for by cocking it up for all his fellow countrymen.

Looking at the damage done there to Ted Kings chassis its a wonder he actually came so close (7 seconds) to staying in the race.

Peter Sagan`s support rider Ted King eliminated from the Tour after missing the cut off by 7 seconds due to injuries suffered during the big day one crash that also left Sagan injured. Together with the loss of King and injuries to several other of the Cannondale Proffesional Cycling team members together with his own injuries Sagan has a monumental battle ahead of him to try retain the Green Jersey lead.

King suffered a dislocated and seperated shoulder.

RadioShack-Leopard veteran Jens Voigt, who was time-cut in 2005 after falling ill, said on Wednesday morning that a poll of riders in the race would have come back with the decision to let King ride.

“The guy crashed, he’s just suffering like hell to stay in the race, and I think you should just choose humility with the rules and say, ‘Hey, look, let’s make an exception,’” said Voigt. “If the riders could have chosen, to put him in or out, I’m sure we would have 100-percent agreement to just come on, let him race. He just wants to reach Paris. It’s his first Tour. He just wants to reach Paris and have the Tour de France on his paper.

“I’ve been in a situation like that. In [2005], I was 42 seconds [outside the time cut]. It was a 180km stage over the Galibier and I did probably 120km by myself. I was 42 seconds out, and I went home. It’s heartbreaking.”

Now that's not a nice list to be on. Ouch for them all, but especially Hesjedal. Is he continuing? Riding with a fractured rib must be agonising!

Easy stage for Cav today, almost dead flat so no chance of been left behind or the break staying away, and as it seems he is back to form I think the rest will just be going through the motions.

Apart from the last 3 km, yesterdays stage was dead boring as far as I am concerned, and I expect much the same today - theres a coupla bumps on Friday which may favor a break, but roll on Saturday and Sunday when I think the big names will at least need to poke their heads out of the peleton.
