EZRider Posted July 6, 2013 Share Andy Schleck did quite well, I thought. Beat Cadel to the line. Seems he is coming good, finally. Huh?He didn't even crack top twenty.Only reason he pipped cuddles was Cadel was even k@ker.He is a former winner, climbing specialist, contender and every time he gets a top thirty the press heralds his return. sarover Posted July 6, 2013 Share Congrats to Froome.. I remain a sceptical though. Do those knocking Contador know that he won 2 grand tours since his positive test? Maybe Contador's time is up. History says the best cyclists have a 5 year winning span at Grand Tours. I think Contador's performance is equal to the Vuelta last year when on a very hot day he lost 19secs in the last km to a Froome attack. Today Froome attacked at 6km to go. 6 x 19 secs is 1min 54secs, Kreuziger helped today SyncSA

SyncSA Posted July 6, 2013 Share Contador had excuses at the Giro too. The real truth is that his team doesn't have BEEF in their goodie bags anymore. Then he did bloody well compared to the others (evans, Voeckler etc) to be 1:5 behind Froome

SyncSA Posted July 6, 2013 Share I just want to see great cycling - having one team/person dominate is boring Meezo

'Dale Posted July 6, 2013 Share How is Quintana rated on descents? He's tiny.Prob weights 55 kgs.Should place loaded bottles in his cages at the top before a descent - gravity sucks.

Meezo Posted July 6, 2013 Share He's tiny.Prob weights 55 kgs.Should place loaded bottles in his cages at the top before a descent - gravity sucks. 59kgs! Froome completely dominated today as said by most. But lets hope other tour contenders will attack him, and he responds atleast for some exciting racing. Otherwise we gonna be watching team sky for the rest of the tour!! >_> Edited July 6, 2013 by Meezo
'Dale Posted July 6, 2013 Share I think The Tour is over Grumps. They're all riding for second place.Only in the doping days would we have believed it if Berto and the rest suddenly recover to have a miraculous day. More than 2000 kms to roll.2 weeks The Tour is far from over.Anything can happen in racing. No doubt, Froomster as laid an awesome foundation. 'Dale Posted July 6, 2013 Share I think Quintana got stage fright, he looked quite comfortable physically, but it seemed he was doubting himself, almost like "how can I be so far ahead of the big names" I think we will see a lot more of him in the Alps. But he looked awesome, didn't he.Got the white jersey on the shoulders! Vetseun

'Dale Posted July 6, 2013 Share Last year's Young Rider jersey winner, van Garderen, will be very disappointed today with his melt down. From velonews “The heat really started getting to me, which was strange, because I’ve done a lot to prepare for the heat, with the sauna, with racing in California and San Luis. I didn’t think it would be an issue, but for some reason it really seemed to affect me...I just didn’t have the power. I got a little bit of chills. I wasn’t massively dehydrated. I felt like my normal self, minus 30 percent. You cannot miss that 30 percent at the Tour.”
'Dale Posted July 6, 2013 Share “Today I grabbed the white jersey, another good objective for me. I hope to keep it all the way to Paris... The legs felt good today during this first mountain stage. We are going to keep fighting to try to win a stage.” Movistar's Quintana

The first few stages at the Tour of Cal (which he won) was in hellish heat in southern Californian desert and he coped there.
