If I walked the cycle route at IM with a duffel bag, I would have picked up enough bombs, tool bags and other cycling stuff to pay for my entry if I sold them.

Please pick up my dignity and send it back to cape town

Haven't done IM yet, but I find this beautiful even so...

The new route is very scenic and very challenging which is a good thing. However, I would suggest you train on a gravel road with your TT bike and when you go to the gym, ask them to mount a spin bike on one of those shake machines to emulate PE.

The mere fact that someone started a petition is proof of that.

Got to say the IM course was way better than the ITU course in Cape Town. That was a deathtrap, I have never hammered my bike so hard, terrible speedbumps, brick paving, cracked and potholed roads, I thought PE was pretty good.

Are those Joburg roads any better than PE?

Just spent the last 2 hours reading this thread and as a virgin competitor for 2015 getting as much info as possible. To all this those that posted about their experiences thank you thank you.

I have run the run loop and swam the swim loop an think them both fairly athlete friendly. I have driven the cycle loop and think it's ok ..but of course the wind is the big factor. Here's hoping for a westerly on March 29.

I am looking at a solid 15 to 16 hour finish being 1 hour for swim (my strength) 8 hour for cycle and 6 hour for run/crawl/walk. My goal is to finish, nothing more.

Good luck to all the competitors for 2015.

Well done to all participants for 2014 , by all accounts it was a tough one
