hboli4 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I am going to be there - just not sure exact dates yet, will let you know. Question to the locals / IM veterans - Re Run route - it seems to go thorugh the university? If so is it possible to train the full course - any acces issues etc? I know its "flat" but want to recce it anyway... The back gate is usually locked. No problem running into the Uni but issues getting out the back. We have obtained permission before to have it open but wasn't involved in that so can't say.
ADe Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 You can look at the profile of The Herald Cycle route. The difference is that Lakefarm won't be on it as they take a different climb. As well as the drag up to Cows Corner won't be on there. But you will be able to check out Maitlands. Thanks, but having not ridden the route it is still difficult to compare to other races. How does it compare to the Argus (Suikerbossie/Cappies). More difficult, less, on par? I will also be in PE from 21 to 23 Dec and will then definitely ride the route myself. How busy is that stretch of road in terms of traffic as it seems quite narrow?
Shebeen Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I'm not on this site to make enemies with anyone. My views are my views and I don't have to justify them to anyone. What he said. I know someone is painting me as the fall guy for ruining this thread...but starting a new one is quite a kneejerk reaction to not getting your own way. Complaining about a circular argument whilst perpetuating it is always going to be frustrating. With the benefit of hindsight, a lot of the stuff I said and got criticised for has turned out true. Let's hope I'm right about the increased demand putting some more events on the calender too.

You critised the cost and said people who would pay that were x y z. If you were not in the wrong then why send me a bunch of PM's trying to down play your comments. You are 100% correct - it is frustrating asking someone not involved in the race to let the people who are get on with the tri talk without your negativity and then getting its a 'free speech' response. The fact that other people are contributing on the other thread is also proof that not everyone is interested in your whining, as a non athlete. Peace
fabes Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I will be keen for a cycle with any of the out of towners in December.Just won't be in Pe from the 13th until round about the 20th or.
dracs Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 We normally just climb over it if its locked. Is it electrified? If so - you ARE an ironman!
Hammy Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 OK, so I heard today that I now have an entry, but training has been relatively non-existent on the running and swimming side. 4 months enough time to get to a sub 13? Did the 2012 edition so know how to suffer
Garfield2010 Posted November 21, 2013 Author Posted November 21, 2013 Definately. Quality over quantity.....
hboli4 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 For sure, you've been there and know what it takes. More than enough time!
Bullet Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Bit of topics but does anyone know if Kona worlds highlights package will be broadcasted on SS. used to be on ESPN but DSTV no longer have ESPN?
JGR Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Bit of topics but does anyone know if Kona worlds highlights package will be broadcasted on SS. used to be on ESPN but DSTV no longer have ESPN?You can watch the whole thing on youtube
Garfield2010 Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 You can watch the whole thing on youtube And is it worth it? It was an awesome show a few years back (when Macca won it) but since then the quality have been appalling.
