Hi,

I have just acquired an Everest Cleanex Ultrasonic cleaner. The type of thing surgeons and dentists use to clean their stuff.

Is this a practical device to clean bike components such as derailleurs and chains?

I also have no idea how it works. It heats Water, It has a timer and it has a selector switch with 3 settings.

I have also googled in vain to try and find an operators manual.

Please help

You can use sunlight liquid and best is to place the parts on a strainer hanging over the edge .

Water can be warm or hot. Leave in for about 15 min

Great for chain cleaning, but you must dry poperly and lube well after. Also great for cleaning bearings. Squirt the soap or degreaser on to part and then place in sonic machine.

Don't leave to long in unit running as parts can wear.

All parts should be pre cleaned with benzine or paraffin before. Or it makes the tank dirty very fast.

Have fun.

Ha thanks guys.... next time I need to know something I will ask here first. Save myself the frustration of Gooooogling.

I am buying a factory building.... found the unit there with a whole lot of other stuff.

Also thanks for the links. I found them too. They are just product brochures and offer no operating information.

Have some fun with it first. Chuck in a piece of aluminium foil from your lunch pack. Switch it on and watch it turn into confetti. Then go to Wiki and understand what's going on in there.

Generally, it can't clean thick grease or packed-on oil. However, it is great for getting other types of dirt out of nookies and crannies.

I knew a dude that used something like that to clean injectors....and his wife's rings... :o

Yup, my watch and spectacles regularly go in there. And when I'm older and my teeth of the removable type, they'll go in there too.

Like next week?

Some of the nose pads and ear pieces on glasses go mushy in the cleaner. Not sure if it's the ultrasonic cleaning, heat or solution that I used.
